I agree with you. What are they thinking going with Goransson? Conti could come up with a great moving score in the same style as ROCKY. Such a missed opportunity.

Well I now am officially depressed! Conti is for sure not scoring CREED. Not a fun time to be a Conti fan, no new scoring assignments and no unreleased cds on the horizon, oh well what can you do?
They say they don't want to use any ROCKY music. I understand they want to make the movie it's own thing, but Rocky is in it. To me it seems disrespectful to Conti that they won't use any of his music, after all Conti's music is half the reason the movie worked so well.
If there are any scenes in this film where Rocky talks to the dad or talks to the son, the producers would be fools to not use appropriate Rocky themes where appropriate. dismissing it out-of-hand is a dumb move.
I'm assuming Conti didn't want to score it after the ordeal on the last Rocky film, but they could have looked into somebody whose worked with him for many years and has scoring chops, Ashley Irwin.

Enjoy the CDs you have. I've been spinning "Masters of the Universe" again lately. It's a great score.
Saw it last week... There are hints of the score that plays when Rocky brings Adrian back to his apartment and he has her up against the door in the first film. There is also pieces of Gonna Fly Now and Going The Distance in the final fight.

He had to replace his original score on Balboa after it was previewed and people were complaining of the lack of Rocky music, so he did an entire new score based with the familiar themes, something he apparently wasn't too keen on.

Which makes it even more a missed opportunity that this movie had no score release. I imagine with what's little there is in the movie and his rejected score, it might make a fine album.
