Today's Gold Box deal on Amazon. http://amzn.to/XEouhs

$90 for bluray, $75 for DVD.

I'm thinking I'm going to let my kids watch the original Galactica soon, and then, when they're 14 or so, they can "discover" the reboot...

Amazon has been having amazing deals. Yesterday with the Bond complete collection, today with BSG TNS. Sadly Ive had to pass on all of these deals. That's a hundred dollars I need to go towards scores. Hopefully will see these deals again around Xmas time.

LOL, they say be careful for what you wish for right? Just spent a boatload on LLL and Intrada releases. So have to pass again. Oh well, good thing these things are not limited releases like the specialty scores. Here's looking at ya 11 months from now.

It's for stuff like this that I need to get a BluRay player. Then again, I would have to pay for shipping PLUS customs to get it to Norway, so it wouldn't be that much cheaper after all.

The UK set is reduced too, and it's region free.

And I think Amazon's sale is for a week, not just one day as I wrote.

But Thor, I can't imagine anyone NOT getting into Blu-ray! I've bought everything new in the past 2 years in Blu-ray (when it's available); otherwise you're just buying more DVDs that you're going to later wish you had on Blu-ray, and don't forget you can still play all your DVDs on it and they may look even better than when you watched them with a DVD only player. I'm so glad I switched when I did. I just ordered my 3rd Blu-ray player (a universal with SACD and DVD-A and just about everything else). I'm thoroughly hooked on it!

I know. It's a financial decision and there are other things I need to prioritize right now.

However, I desperately need a BluRay player that can also upgrade my old DVDs. My DVD player is excellent, but old (bought in 2004, I think) and not very compatible with the new TV I'm borrowing. The audio is out of synch.

Thor: Re: "The audio is out of synch." That's a problem I never had with DVD, nor with my Sony analog TV. But after I started playing Blu-rays with my big Samsung digital TV, I noticed that several of them had a terrible delay so the people singing (and occasionally speaking) didn't match the sound that was coming out of my speakers. The worst was the Blu-ray of "The Music Man," but I've noticed it on a lot of other musicals, and, as you can attest, it's VERY annoying! And yes, finances can often raise their ugly head when it comes to buying something new -- one HAS to pay the bills! But it seems to affect some more than others -- just go to the site about new CDs members have bought, and we find members who seem to buy 20 or 30 new CDs each month and must live in a parallel universe that I've yet to visit!
