FRIDAY, AUGUST 16

JURASSIC PARK 4---director Colin Trevorrow confirmed rumors that the sequel will feature a new dinosaur, but he would not identify it, "We have a new one that's pretty cool. I'm not going to tell you anything about it, but… it's pretty badass...I think Jack Horner [paleontologist/technical adviser] said something about that too… I feel like, obviously, everyone's favorite is the T-Rex and there's just something so iconic about that animal."
Also, rumors say John Krasinski (THE OFFICE) will be in the sequel as "as one of the theme park workers in charge of 'taming' some of the dinosaurs."

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: ORIGINS 3D---3D reimagining of George Romero's classic zombie movie is underway in which a group of people are under siege in an abandoned New York apartment building after a zombie plague infects the city. R. Madhavan, Tony Todd, Tom Sizemore and Sydney Tamiia Poitier star.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES---Keri Russell commented on the sequel plot, “Basically, there’s been this virus outbreak and there’s very little of civilization alive. The apes that are left don’t think there are any humans left and the humans left don’t think there are any apes left. Through a set of circumstances, they meet up and it’s really about can the two communities exist together. I play one of the existing humans in the colony and I have some medical skills, although it’s not like I’m a big fancy doctor…I’m sort of Jason Clarke’s girlfriend.”

WONDER WOMAN---Gina Carano said fan support for her starring in the rumored Warner Bros. movie is an,"incredible compliment" and added, "That's the ultimate superhero for a woman. No matter what, no matter who ends up being Wonder Woman someday, I just hope it's something that is done correctly. I know it's there and that it could definitely be done correctly. It's just a matter of getting the right people and having the right vision come together. A director and producer and writer have to see the beauty in it and make it real."

EDGE OF TOMORROW---even though filming on the sci fi movie had finished, reshoots will add Jeremy Piven in a small role as Col. Walter Marx. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt star.

LITTLE ACCIDENTS---movie underway based on the short film about three residents of a small West Virginia coal mining town who team up to investigate the murder of a 14-year-old boy. Elizabeth Banks, Chloe Sevigny and Josh Lucas star.

ASSASSIN'S CREED---Scott Frank (MINORITY REPORT) will re-write the original script for the Michael Fassbender movie based on the video game.

ARROW---Bex Taylor-Klaus (THE KILLING) will play Sin who appears in Episodes 3 and 4 of Season 2.

FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC---Lifetime tv movie remake of the 1987 movie based on the novel about four children forced to live in the attic of the grandparent's mansion. Heather Graham, Ellen Burstyn, Kiernan Shipka and Mason Dye star. The original movie starred Louise Fletcher, Victoria Tennant and Kristy Swanson.

TNT---renewed RIZZOLI & ISLES, PERCEPTION and MAJOR CRIMES.

OLIVE KITTERIDGE---HBO miniseries underway based on the novel starring Frances McDormand, Richard Jenkins, Jesse Plemons, Zoe Kazan and John Gallagher, Jr. Tom Hanks is the producer.

THE HONOURABLE WOMAN---Sundance Channel British spy thriller miniseries underway starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Stephen Rea and Janet McTeer.

YOUNGER---TV Land sitcom from Darren Star (SEX AND THE CITY) based on the novel about a woman in her 40s who reinvents herself as a woman in her 20s and gets a job with a major publishing company.

Well, if they could photoshop her like that through the entire movie, maybe.

Come on...Christina Hendricks or GTFO.

What a terrible choice she would be. I just don't get the big hoopla over this Gina Carano.

I agree she'd be terrible. But then, I think most of the choices I've seen rumored/suggested seem terrible: Morena Baccarin, Alexandra Daddario, Christina Hendricks, Kate Beckinsale, each worse than the last (at least from what I have seen of their acting and screen presence -- I'm happy to be pleasantly surprised by anyone!).

It will be the screen's first lesbian dinosaur - the Lickalotapuss.

I wonder if the plot will include people screaming and running from rampaging dinos. We'll see.

Hell yeah!

Shit, I don't care if they get Snooki for the role. As long as the film doesn't end up in the hands of Nicolas Winding Refn (which has been threatened from time to time), the film stands a decent chance of being almost halfway good.

The girl who played Not-Ursa in MAN OF STEEL would make a good WW, as well.

Gina Carrano knows how to fight and has an appropriately "ethnic" look for a Greek Goddess, but she's too short and, if Haywire is any indication, has a lot to learn about acting. WW should be regal, not scrappy.

Keeping any film out of the hands of Nicolas Winding Refn seems to be a good idea big grin

Looking at these new films being made reminds me of a joke years ago that went something like if you think what's on TV now is bad just wait to see how bad it will look in the future. Have you been to the movies lately?[ha-ha]ORIGINAL IDEAS PEOPLE ORIGINAL IDEAS.

That never stopped Hollywood before (and neither did the other points you made), but they can't all have Oscar-nominated/winning performers in major roles.
