That would be Lee Van Cleef singing (if you can call it that) the main title theme from CAPTAIN APACHE.

well done bob, we hav a winner! ha ha.

80 odd views before it was nailed. nice to see someone on the ball!

yeh singer is a bit of an exagerration but i didnt wana give it away!

theres another " song" at the end credits called april morning, with van cleef hitting bum notes and flat as a pancake.

great actor and couldnt do any wrong in his western peak, but what was he thinking!?

Shocking songs for a very silly and disjointed western.

and ive been humming April morning all morning...

The two songs and the CAPTAIN APACHE score were composed by Candian composer and pianist Dolores Claman. It's her only feature film score. Claman's writing partner and husband, lyricist Richard Morris, did the lyrics for the songs. The pair composed over 3,000 commercial jingles in a 30 year period and won more than 40 awards internationally for their work. Claman's theme for the television show "Hockey Night in Canada" is believed to be Canada's most recognizable music, second only to the Canadian National Anthem. Claman is 86 years-old.

CAPTAIN APACHE was one of those films that got shown in syndication on TV stations years ago like WOR-TV CHANNEL 9 and to me that opening melody stuck out like a sore thumb. Fun song. Good addition to the list of non-singers trying to sing songs on film which I have going on my thread. Other SCOTIA INTERNATIONAL RELEASE films that got shown on local TV back then were BAD MAN'S RIVER[Which had a main theme vocal song to it] PANCHI VILLA-Where TELLY SAVALAS knocks off a end theme song, HORROR EXPRESS, where no one sings but has a good MICHAEL CACAVAS score and PSYCHOMANIA[DEATH WHEELERS] which starred GEORGE SANDERS shortly before he committed suicide, which did have a pleasant vocal folk song in it called RIDING FREE. SCOTIA INTERNATIONAL didn't hang around long did they?

Yeah Dan, Bad Man's River was another shockingly-bad western - That and Captain Apache are probably the worst items on Van Cleef's CV. The score for Bad mans river had singing all through with the choir singing "He's bad bad news, he's bad bad news..." Terrible, Couldnt even put it in "comedy" western category as it "wasnt fkn funny either!"

I remember Pancho Villa - and Telly Savalas "song". Chuck Connors in that too!

And Horror Express had a score - slightly out-of-place but good whistling theme if I recall.
That got an LP release in the end I think.
