Thanks to youtube, I finally got to see this TV movie, directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal, and starring Tracey Pollan. It's a fascinating true story about the skier Kari Swenson, who got abducted by two "mountain men" in 1984.
The reason why I saw the film was of course because Sylvester Levay wrote the score. The music was brilliant, and would have made a great soundtrack album had a label taken the chance. The 7 minute opening sequence is a good example of Levay's melodic electronic score. He also experimented with some slide guitar effects to great results.
Has anyone seen the film or does anyone know the story?
Here's the actual track I was thinking of, it's from Powaqqatsi but was used in The Truman Show. Not exactly it, it's more upbeat, but the same kind of sonic scape is there.
Don't want to detract this from the topic, though, Syvester Levay needs more of his works out there for consumption, they are great pieces of the 80's.
