I picked this CD up on a whim at a local shop today, and it's pretty trippy stuff. 23 tracks (72 minutes), all but a few of them instrumental. It'll appeal to some of you who like me bend an ear toward the weird.
THE CATHERINE WHEEL was a Broadway production that was choreographed by Twyla Tharp and incidentally, eventually filmed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pmflqe8p58Y. Not my cup of tea, but I dig the music on CD.
I have an odd footnote about THE CATHERINE WHEEL CD. At the time I bought the CD, I was using a pretty-early-model Denon CD player. I can't remember exactly... it was either when you tried to play the last track, or maybe it was right after the last track had played, the CD player would go crazy. The disc would start spinning at a speed so incredibly fast, you could actually feel air whooshing out the front of the player. All the control buttons became inactive, and I actually had to unplug the machine to get it to stop. That might have been one of the reasons I eventually got rid of that CD.
A longtime favorite of mine. If you're a fan of REMAIN IN LIGHT, you'll enjoy some of the Heads-related, offshoot projects of that era: Byrne's THE CATHERINE WHEEL, Eno and Byrne's MY LIFE IN THE BUSH OF GHOSTS, and Jerry Harrison's THE RED AND THE BLACK.
