TUESDAY, AUGUST 27

SUPERMAN VS. BATMAN---"inside sources" say Bryan Cranston will play Lex Luthor in the sequel and that Warner Bros. will make the official announcement after BREAKING BAD concludes on September 29.

JAMES BOND---Daniel Craig commented on the 24th Bond movie which will premiere on November 6, 2015, “Hopefully we’ll reclaim some of the old irony, and make sure it doesn’t become pastiche. I can’t do shtick, I’m not very good at it. Unless it kind of suddenly makes sense. Does that make sense? I sometimes wish I hammed it up more, but I just can’t do it very well, so I don’t do it.”

12 MONKEYS---Syfy pilot underway based on the 1995 Terry Gilliam movie that starred Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Madeleine Stowe and Christopher Plummer.

THE X-FILES---creator Chris Carter said he's working on a third movie, "It's really up to 20th Century Fox, whether they have the will to do it. I think all of us are interested in putting the band back together. I have an idea for a third movie in my head. The colonization date has passed and that is something we wouldn't ignore. For the second movie, we only had the budget for a standalone story, but we want to go back to the mythology....Gillian [Anderson] worked with Simon Pegg on a movie and told me that he was a big fan. We actually thought about putting him in the second movie, but there was no part for him. I certainly would think about him if we were to go forward in any way."

FURY---Scott Eastwood (TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D), son of Clint Eastwood, will co-star with Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf in this World War II movie about an M4 Sherman tank on a mission behind German lines in the final days of the war.

BARELY LETHAL---Jessica Alba will co-star with Hailee Steinfield and Samuel L. Jackson in this movie about a teenage assassin who faked her death and has enrolled in a suburban high school while her beautiful ex-colleague seeks to kill her.

THE WICKER MAN---the restored version of the 1973 cult movie that starred Christopher Lee, Edward Woodward and Ingrid Pitt will premiere on September 27. Also, Robin Hardy, the original movie's director, is developing the third movie in the trilogy titled WRATH OF THE GODS.

THE HUNGER GAMES---Stef Dawson will play Annie Cresta in MOCKINGJAY 1 and 2.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT---creator Mitch Hurwitz said he's working on a movie based on his sitcom, "I'm working on the movie right now. I can't get into much more detail because I don't want to scare anybody off. I don't want to be presumptuous about it. I don't own the property outright – it's a 20th Century Fox property. But everybody seems really into it and really eager to make a movie."

SPAWN---Todd McFarlane said the remake movie could start filming in 2014 and added, “The thing that keeps slowing it down is that the negotiation I’ve done is I write, produce, direct, but I’ve got to push a lot of my other endeavors off to the side so I can just get tunnel vision on it. And so everybody at my company is now going, ‘We've got to find Todd the time to finish all this.’”...It’s not going to be a giant budget [film] with a lot of special effects. It’s going to be more of a horror movie and a thriller movie, not a superhero one."

DIANA---Dr. Hasnat Khan, Princess Diana's ex-boyfriend, said about the upcoming biomovie starring Naomi Watts, "I don't see this movie doing well at all. It is based on gossip and Diana's friends talking about a relationship that they didn't know much about, and some of my relatives who didn't know much about it either. It is all based on hypotheses and gossip." He denied the movie's producer got his "tacit acceptance", "It is a complete lie. I have never given any approval." Premiere is November 1.

HULK---Eric Bana commented on his 2003 movie, "I'm proud of what it tried to do. I apologize to all those people who were so angry about it...I'm fascinated by the people who hated that movie and feel compelled to watch it again, which always blows my mind. But, yeah, it is what it is and I certainly don't regret doing it. I think I'm so lucky it didn't happen....One of the things I was most fearful of at the time is it being a huge success...If I had done three Hulks, it would have wiped out -- and it always takes a long time to do those movies -- so it would take six of my movies off the table."

JAMES BROWN---untitled biomovie starring Chadwick Boseman (42).

THE MOLE MAN OF BELMONT AVENUE---direct-to-dvd comedy horror movie starring Robert Englund in which two loser brothers inherit a New York apartment building and discover a monster which is feasting on the tenants.

THE HUNTED---horror movie underway from Josh Stewart (THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, THE COLLECTOR) in which two hunters seek to get their own tv series by hunting a monster buck in the West Virginia mountains only to become the hunted themselves when they are stalked by a supernatural force.

Good news on X-Files, I hope fox go for it and I'd be happy to see Pegg.

I'm neither here nor there on Pegg myself but I sure do want me some X-Files.

Me too...I'm still surprised there haven't been more movies given the success of the show (and subsequent success on home media and unofficial spins-off), but I'll take 'em when I can...and much as though I enjoyed the last movie, a return to the mythology would be welcome...

Bana - I'm glad he doesn't regret it...for the quality of the film, I would be worried if he did...
