Sorry to hear this news. I always enjoyed listening to 'Melodies For You' and 'The David Jacobs Collection' on BBC Radio 2. 'Our Kind Of Music', as he called it.

Sad news that recently we have lost Alan Whicker, David Frost, Seamus Heaney and Mr Jacobs. Quite a lot of people who we listened to.

A sad loss indeed.

David's mellifluous voice was instantly recognisable on radio, and his face that of an old friend on television.

I shall greatly miss his Sunday night programme on Radio 2, the last of which went out on August 5th.

Here is a very truncated edition of the long-running "Juke Box Jury" from 1960.
