Want you to know first and foremost that THE BUTLER is his?

Or is it like when that PRECIOUS movie came out and had that long ass title with the author's name in it?

I guess you gotta give it to Lee for "Shameless Self-Promotion"!

The funny thing is, I keep seeing people online calling it Oprah Winfey's THE BUTLER. LOL!

I had a feeling this would've come up, sooner or later. It wasn't Daniels' decision:

And so, my apologies to Lee Daniels.

It's all just so stupid.

Wasn't there a few TITANIC Movies over the years? I don't remember it advertised as James Cameron's TITANIC.

Nothing seems consistent when it comes to the Guilds.

Perhaps I'm wrong?

With respectful apologies, Zoob, wot's Wrong is the insistence from the Directors Guild to sanction that insulting tag at the beginning of a movie in the first place (as if it's an inherent automatic right few have actually earned other than having the 'power' to insist upon it in their contracts).

And there are just as many Directors who see it as perfectly applicable also.

That's when we always remember to put this infantile nitwit nonsense into proper perspective with William Goldman's (paraphrased) observation,

[ "I've seen too many world-class directors calling me early in the morning wailing confused 'What am I gonna shoot today confused ?!?" ]

It'll never happen (unless wee do it on our own) but wouldn't it be wunnerful to sometime see a salutation at the beginning of a flick that went:

"A Film by ...

EVERYONE WHO WORKED ON IT"
? wink
