Does anyone else enjoy this score on CD?
I remember Susan Sarandon & the late Brad Renfro but not much else about the movie.
The score is another chiller from Howard Shore. It opens with a warm cue thats rather atypical, then the coldness sets in. THE FLIGHT TO PHOENIX & THE END return to a warmer sound rounding out the exprience. THE BOATHOUSE is one of the composer's most interesting
tension cues IMO.
One of my personal favorites, but forgotten it would seem.

I distinctly remember enjoying the score even before I learned about the OST; "Romey's Suicide" and "Barry the Blade" are the standout cues for me

I remember the disappointment when I found out Howard Shore had scored the film, and not Hans Zimmer, the first composer on the project, who had to back out due to a scheduling conflict.

Recently bought this one on Ebay after I saw the film again, really a solid Shore thriller score.
Film also holds up pretty well.

I really like this score. The contrast between the terror that Shore does so well and the warm, folksy sound for Renfro and Sarandon's characters was very effective. There is an almost omnipresent layer of electronics that is sometimes prominent and sometimes more subtle, that adds a weird element to the score.
