anyone want to give me a history of this hobby? what were the big surprises over the years? what about surprise releases no one thought would happen?

The history of this hobby can be found on this board and in the thousands of pages in the magazines Film Score Monthly, Soundtrack, Music From The Movies, Elmer Bernstein's film music newsletters in the 70's and more. It might be kind of tough to sum it all up in one thread! I mean, surprises are in the thousands, probably starting from the various new recordings of classic scores made by Charles Gerhardt, George Korngold and Elmer Bernstein in the 1970's.
