...about what I expected. I confess I only listened to the first 5-6 mins. Probably works great in the film though....

hardly that convicing...
I had hoped that Price would be capable of delivering something more interesting considering with this one and The World's End, he's like the new "talent" out there.

Yeah, I don't know if I even made it 1 minute before turning it off. Was not impressed by the ambient droning.

I'm not sure what you guys were expecting. (I'm not saying that cynically.) From what I've seen about the movie, it's a harrowing two-character drama set in the vast silence of space. I expected of the music pretty much what this seems to be -- a quiet but disorienting dread, which gives us none of the comforts that a score with the structure of western musical form would give us.

Of course you need an educated ear but it's very good and inspired work indeed.
It's worth listening to all 23 minutes.

No disrespect to Price, but of all the scores that get rejected each year, this should have been amongst them.

A more appropriate composer choice would have been Cliff Eidelman.

It´s probably working within the movie - but very difficult to enjoy as a pure listening experience.

It probably would not have worked to have a traditional score for this movie since it would have distracted from the realistic atmosphere in outer space.

Let´s face it: traditional scores now will only be used for fantasy movies and the odd epic.

Anything else is either wall of sound droning or lonely guitar chords.

I did listen to all 23 minutes and while I do not claim to have "an educated ear", I did like the score. I am not sure it will be enough to get me to part with my money however, but I will give it a few more listens to see if it continues to resonate with me.

You know Cliff Eidelman would be better for this movie how, exactly? Have you seen it?

Really ?? Someone only made it ONE FREAKING MINUTE into the preview ... 1 minute.. ONE ... and gave up.

Preview sounds goods to me, I wasn't expecting "2001: A Space Odyssey" to be honest. I do have to say that I was one of the few who liked Morricone's score for Mission to Mars, which also got a lot of feces thrown at it on the boards. Looking forward to this movie.

what do people expect ? it will fit the movie perfectly ..

I love fully orchestral scores however this type of score would not fit this type of movie .

You seem to believe that Price scored this film in a vacuum (no pun intended). Like Cuarón said "Hey, you write the music," and when the score came back, he dutifully put it in the film.

Of course, Cuarón actually spotted the film extensively and gave Price specific instructions on how he wanted it to sound. Maybe, if left on his own, Price would have scored this with six harmonicas and a shofar. But what Cuarón wanted is what you hear.

If you believe that Eidelman could have given him a super-emotional track like unnamed 5 (which is from the Steve Martin film "Leap of Faith," by the way) and the director would have just said "Okay," well that's not how this process works.

Not saying I expected anything different, it will just be something I won't be buying on CD. I will probably see the movie and will see how well it works, but when I listen to score by itself like this preview, the purpose is to see if I want to buy the CD. The answer from this preview is, I will pass on the CD.

Was expecting NO SCORE at all.

Instead got shitty droning.

Can't the director just put on some electronic beeping from the astronaut suit and call it a "score"?

Saves the money of hiring a "composer".

Of course we haven't heard the score with the film yet, but this score (while ambient) actually seems overbearing and a distraction. No score might have been better.

I haven't listened to the samples--however every review of the FILM I've read has raved about the score. So while we fanboys are disgruntled because the director didn't reject the music with a dismissive "This will never pass muster on the FSM message board!" most of the other people in America will probably be happy.

Raving, seriously? Lets see how many non FSM score fans whom are raving about the score, actually purchase it.

What does purchasing the score have to do with anything?
