One of the soundtracks I've always wanted, even long before I started collecting soundtracks, is Alan Silvestri's score to the first Grumpy Old Men movie with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.

There's one cue in it specifically that makes it a must, spoilers ahead for those who haven't seen the movie:

When Gustafson (Jack Lemmon's character) has his heart attack after leaving the bar. The cue being played in that sequence is worth 20 bucks alone in my book. Absolutely love it, so sad and beautiful.

Never been released, except for a bootleg. Perhaps something for La-La Land Records to sink their teeth into?

I would love to have both of the Grumpy Old Men scores. Since they're Warner titles, I wonder if La La Land can pursue these. It's a great Silvestri score.

Both scores from both films were pleasant. I listened to my cassette tape of GRUMPY OLD MEN, many times years ago. a new cd would be very welcome.

Though Silvestri practically copy-pasted the main theme from Father of the Bride.

Still would be nice to have the scores though....

I've watching right the film for the first time and although derivative of other scores by him, I'm really enjoying this lovely little score. It's a shame after all this time it has still not been released. Almost three decades later and still nothing.

Next Saturday I will see if I can find the sequel.

Yes - and you should watch "Out To Sea" and "The Odd Couple II" as well. A lot of fun wink

Nearly done with the sequel, "Grumpier Old Men". It's a little shaky for the first five to ten minutes, but then settles in. The score, again by Silvestri, is jut as good as the first one. And like the first one, it has also not been [legally] released (although song CD contains one cue, the end credits music).

Hopefully one day some label will rectify this.
