I have the Fantasy release.....I haven't listened to it in a while, but I don't remember anything bad (sounding) about it. I assume its the same as the Intrada or slight better on a technical level since 10 years newer technology was used to produce it.
Either way this score is good, so grab whatever version you can.

I picked up the Fantasy release on eBay about 6 mos. ago and am very pleased with the quality of the sound.

FYI, I'm fairly certain FANTASY used the exact same master that INTRADA made.

so there really isn't all that much of a difference between the 2 releases.

I'd suggest the Intrada version is the best one.. you know, the one with William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy on the cover? That was Lord of the Rings right? Sounded like it.

Intrada's version sound just fine.

Rosenman's best score, in YOR's humble opinion.

Despite Mr Rosenman's thoughts to the contrary, I vastly prefer the sound quality (and mix) plus sequencing on the original double-LP from Fantasy Records/EMI. Unlike many soundtrack albums of that era, it's a lovely HQ pressing too. Must get around to archiving it to 24/96 digital.

Great score, whichever version one has smile

I was trying to locate this outstanding performance of the main theme on the soundtrack and I couldn't find it.

Is this available on cd? Has been released?

WOW - that was really nice. Like you, having had the score on it's LP set and subsequent CD release, I don't recall this version appearing on either... mystery time.

To be honest I really like this score, but I never cared for the "Marching Band" like theme!
