Roger's posted the cover art for the Sept. 17th titles in the pre-release discussion. (What, no more clues?) The titles are: White Dawn by Henry Mancini and Raging Angels by Terry Plumeri.
I might check out the Plumeri title. Not big on Mancini so White Dawn will probably be a pass.
Check out the samples before you decide. THE WHITE DAWN is not your typical Mancini. It is IMHO one of his absolute best scores and does not sound anything like what you might come to expect from being familiar with his more "lounge-style" pop music. It is a real masterpiece, more in line with LIFEFORCE or THE MOLLY MAGUIRES. The "Arctic Whale Hunt" cue alone is staggeringly powerful and can challenge a good stereo set-up.
I'm sure many folks here know this, but for those who don't, part of THE WHITE DAWN score ended up in THE RIGHT STUFF. I've run across many people (not film score buffs) who comment on liking the music and they often cite the scene where THE WHITE DAWN was tracked into the film (John Glenn's orbital flight).
Mancini did a concert suite of about 12(?) minutes which was the only way this score has been available. I didn't believe I would ever see this released. Amazing! A must buy.
It's such a shame Mancini didn't write more dramatic scores like this during his career. I only own a handful of his scores - Lifeforce, Molly Maguires, Santa Claus The Movie amongst them - and they are quite brilliant. I'm not such a fan of his lighter frothier scores, despite their esteem. I will be adding this one to my collection.

Yes this is the best way to go those silly clue games were pointless - lets know what it is without all that speculation. I now know what I will be getting on Monday

The pure orchestral music in Lifeforce is fantastic. Sadly the rest of it not so much. I always check out a sample or two of a new Intrada score unless I am already familiar with it.
