I just saw Labor Day today and Rolfe Kent's score blew me away. It's such an integral part of the film as if subtly guiding us in the right direction. Crossing my fingers that there will be a soundtrack CD!

I've seen other films with Kent scores but this is the first one that had my ears standing at attention (but not distracting from the film itself).

Excellent to hear, thanks for the note!

I'm a huge Kent fan and I feel he's fairly under-represented on CD (and also on this board!). Jason Reitman hasn't made a bad film yet, so I'm very much looking forward to this.

I never saw the film. I hear it was a slow-burn, tragic/romantic drama.
I picked up the score CD from someplace...probably ebay, a while back, purely on the name of Rolfe Kent.
Playing it today, it's quite ambient and textural, with soft sad passages offset by some repetitive suspense figures.
I was reading the wikipedia synopsis of the film, while listening to the final score track, and it really nailed what I was reading/imagining, while the music played.
Really lovely/melancholy stuff.

I like the score to "Sideways." I don't think I know anything else by him.
