The French program Les Revenants, which aired on Canal Plus there, is coming to television in the U.S. soon as The Returned (details to be announced soon). Now Music Box Films has announced that on January 21st they will put out the show on DVD and Blu-ray Disc here in the States. This will presumably be labeled as "Season 1," since a second season is being produced in France early in 2014.
Chicago-based independent U.S. distributors Music Box Films have acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the French supernatural mini-series Les Revenants a.k.a The Returned (2012) from Zodiak Rights. The distributors plan to have the show on DVD and Blu-ray in January 2014.
The Canal + eight-part series follows closely a group of people who arrive in a small mountain village to reclaim their homes but come to realize that they might have been dead for years.
The cast of The Returned includes Anne Consigny, Frédéric Pierrot, Clotilde Hesme, Jean-François Sivadier, Guillaume Gouix, and Céline Sallette.
The soundtrack for the series was created by Scottish ambient rockers Mogwai.
Following the announcement Music Box Films' William Schopf said: "The Returned epitomizes the very best of the crop of outstanding international television productions finding its way onto U.S. screens. We couldn't be more excited about working with Zodiak to introduce this extraordinary series to American audiences."
