I wanted to make a seperate thread for this, as Goblinscore mentioned these upcoming Donald Rubinstein scores in the Day of the Dead thread, but I'd hate to see it go unnoticed smile

Donald Rubinstein news:

1. Perseverance Records is releasing two new CDs of my music. The first combines my score for the upcoming documentary feature film "Blender," (2013) by German director Susann Reck, with my score for George Romero's feature film, "Bruiser." (1999)

The second will feature concert works based on themes I wrote for George Romero's "Dawn of the Dead," before he decided not to go the orchestral route. It will also include never before released electronic music and song based on the same themes. I will post release dates on my website later this summer.

Very intrigued by the Dawn of the Dead rejected score, the cult movie seems an endless source of music with the Goblin material, the numerous library tracks and now the rejected orchestral score by Rubinstein. Bruiser I already own but I hope the upcoming Perseverance will include more music as the promo is rather short for my liking.

Also interested by his upcoming Blender score. If you haven't already, check out Rubinstein's scores for Martin/Pollock as well as Knightriders. I recently rewatched Martin (1976) and I wonder how this hasn't been remade with the hollywood vampire craze.

Well, first of all I hope that George and Richard would not give permission for a remake ever !!
This movie is really one-of-a-kind and every attempt for a remake will fail even more than the usual stuff.
Look at the Dawn-remake. So many stupid things in there like driving so fast with their vehicles that an accident is inevitable. Not helping Andy sooner ...

Rubinstein doesn't give a shit, he'll remake anything. I don't think MARTIN has the brand recognition of a DAWN OF THE DEAD, though.

I liked the Dawn remake a lot, definitely better than Romero's last 3 entries in the Dead series. That 'Day of the Dead' remake however was a total crapshoot.

I'm not against a Martin remake if it's done as good as 'The Crazies' was or even the 'Fright Night' remake, in both cases I even prefer the remake over the original. But yes, they will have a hard time topping Martin, very clever and underrated movie by Romero.

Going to be weird listening to 'impressions of Dawn', my favorite film, but
often do we get that opportunity?

GODDAMMIT.

Between the DARKMAN blu-ray and ESCAPE FROM LA, my wallet can't afford anything more this month.

Great to see it announced, interesting how Rubinstein kept the ideas. It is amazing how much music one movie can bring forth; the Goblin material for the Argento cut is now all available, as well as a nice selection of the library tracks (including the gonk), and yet there still are library tracks used that haven't been released. Then this release comes along with music we didn't knew existed which will be interesting to hear, from what I gather from those notes it is mostly ideas. Can't wait for Bruiser as well.

So, we have the DAWN album, which was kinda hit and miss for me, but with some great highlights.

Any word on the BRUISER album? Did I miss it?

It's finally here!

This is the world premiere commercial release of Donald Rubinstein's freaky score to George Romero's last film. Recently only available as a 12-minute bootleg, this album features almost the complete score to the film. We have worked closely with the composer, who also included four selections from his score to Blender, a documentary about a mental institution in the Bavarian mountains, including the 18-minute long powerhouse Blues ballad, "Demon Blues".

The liner notes for this Album were not included in the booklet, but will be posted on a future issue of "Six Strings Magazine".

This album is available only as a download. To download please visit your favorite digital store or click here: http://www.fortytwotradingco.com/bruiser-blender-album-download/

Disappointed it's only a download, but I'll be buying the shit out of it next week.
