I'm all thumbs when it comes to gift giving. My brother and his wife will be having their 25th next month and I'd like to get them something. He's 59 and she's 48 and they have a daughter who's about to turn 8. Any experienced gift-givers out there who may have some ideas? Thank you.

Adam, I'll throw out a few ideas. You can ignore them if you hate them. (Also, not sure what price range you have in mind.)

When my husband and I had our 25th, my brother gave me a nice gift certificate to one of our local and fancy restaurants. It was so nice to go to dinner, just the two of us, and not worry about the price of wine or steak, etc. We loved that gift. If you can offer to babysit the 8 year old, they'd have a nice, free dinner.

Last year, we went to a 25th anniversary party. People asked us (friends and relatives) to put cash in a basket, just what we could afford. The money went to help pay for a cruise for the couple. They did take a cruise and loved it.

Sometimes, people would appreciate a paid for night in a fancy hotel.

If I have other ideas, I'll let you know.

Thank you, Joan. I do like the restaurant idea and watching my niece while they're out so they won't have to hire a babysitter. I know the places they frequent so the choice would be easy. This is a good start! It's another four weeks away so there's plenty of time to decide.
