It's been a lot better, IMO, for the few episodes since it came back from winter break. Like most shows, the showrunners need to take time to see what works and what doesn't, and adjust appropriately. Think about the off and sometimes-awful first seasons of shows that went on to become classics, like Seinfeld or (more aptly given the creative staff and genre) Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I usually give shows a whole first season, although within recent years I've called quits on a few fairly early on (at the half-season marks of "Once Upon a Time" and "Revolution," about three episodes into "Grimm"). There are others that I've quit on fairly early, only to hear great things from their later development and rediscover their greatness on DVD ("Fringe," for one).
No official word on a score, but I'd count on a score release from Intrada, who due to their relationship with Disney have released several Marvel albums and several ABC TV albums.

You seem to FORGET that the composer has his OWN LABEL, so I suspect he'd have the inside track on this one.

I've read there's some interesting new characters coming, plus they added Bill Baxton? I might give it another try. 
it's BILL PAXTON who is coming on for a 4 episode arc (as least that's what I recall)
Overall the show has greatly improved since the start of the season, the characters are fleshing out and they seem to be on the right track.
I just wish ABC wouldn't have decided to have such a long gap, but I hope once it comes back in March we don't have any more until the season finale.

I think the show has been getting progressively better as it goes along, and hopefully continues to build on that.
While I saw Captain America on opening weekend (and obviously many, many others did as well), my spouse didn't. I was very surprised that they would, only four days after the movie's US release, spoil the fairly major plot twists of the movie - not just the main plot point that Hydra had infiltrated SHIELD, but also in the episode's wrap up conversation, the aftermath of the movie - SHIELD being disbanded, etc.
I know it was kind of a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't thing for Agents of SHIELD - if this week had been business as usual, people who saw the movie and knew it's clear ramifications for Agents would have been confused. But my spouse indicated that she's not really interested in seeing Captain America anymore, at least not in theaters - so it was at least a little counterproductive in that respect.
My thought would be that they hoped to take the good-will and momentum from Captain America and leverage that into ratings - unfortunately it didn't happen, as last week's AoS was the lowest-rated episode yet (not taking into account DVR and On Demand which will likely give it a substantial bump).

I'd appreciate not having any spoilers at all, but understand the appeal and relative necessity of cross-overs.
I have not seen the second Thor and Captain America movies yet; in the first case, the references did not appear to be major spoilers; in the second, I didn't realize the movie was concerned as well: I did think of it, but was mostly engrossed in the plot & action; the most important thing was the reference to Captain America at the end.
The hugest spoiler was rather Coulson's fate at the end of The Avengers, which I read about reading DVVD reviews because the UK version censored part of the scene.
And then, it's a big plot point of the series.
More time has passed, though, so you have had more opportunities to see the movie.
In the case at hand, HYDRA's infiltration comes as a big shock either way, whether you learn of it in the movie or in the series.
This goes to show how entwined both are, and how much has been planned ahead in the Marvel movies-cum-television universe, to be able to not only feature such a plot point in both media, but also develop the plot in the series over a long period.
Introducing things in the series first might make it easier for more people to have the necessary information before seeing the movie, provided the épisodes were independent enough from the previous ones to be understandalel by someone only interested in the movies.
In any case, I love this series; I was not quite sure what it would be like, and it turned out to be more intricate than one might have expected.
The twists in this week episode were many and incredible; we were hit by so many surprises at the end!
There might be a slight doubt as to the very last one, especially given the final shot, but it was still shocking.
Marvel/Disney is really doing great with this Universe, movie & television-wise.
