I agree with a lot of the above. While I was obsessed with THE ENGLISH PATIENT before I saw it, yes, it was truly boring, and a wonderful 30-minute making-of special that Harvey paid Bravo and other channels to repeatedly show to drum up nominations and awards was better than the movie itself -- give me that 30-minute special and I'll be happy! Have mixed emotions about GANDHI -- Ben Kingsley was phenomenal and it gives me pleasure to see some of the supporting cast who are no longer among us. But it's a mostly unsatisfying sit. I've always loved OUT OF AFRICA, and enjoy seeing Streep and Redford together, and that John Barry soundtrack helps carry it for me.

And THE ARTIST? I hated it and haven't the slightest desire to see it again, and how it won both Best Picture AND Best Actor is beyond me!

Speaking of Harvey Weinstein, I've never had a problem with him before, but I have to gripe about the trimming of foreign-language films like "Kon-Tiki" and "The Grandmaster." I've read that his American cut of "The Grandmaster" is atrocious, so I'll just wait and hope for the complete cut on DVD.
