I'd certainly buy a stand-alone release of the last CD in the set, if anyone from Universal France is listening. For anyone that has this release, what are the additional cues from Castle Keep like? Are they similar to the fantastic main title?

Chris.

... but I think there are too much jazz...

That's Michel Legrand. It's an Anthology.

So, how much of this huge set is actually new to CD? Anything? A couple of CDs? Are not the soundtrack selections all on other CDs or the other boxes from this company?

Very hard to say, when you consider the haphazard nature of his discography, releases in the US and Europe, tunes with English and French titles, and Legrand's own countless re-arrangements and re-recordings of his themes. I have LOTS of Legrand, and I'm estimating that I have at least 2/3 of this box, much of it on vinyl, and maybe much more that I'm not recognizing in looking at the track list.

I did about two weeks ago - see my post above where I talk about some of the material on the set. I quite like the Gershwin disc, as well - even though I already had the "Porgy & Bess" suite on another album.

Well this collection does look to be a bit more diverse than previous Legrand compilations in that it's deliberately not focussed exclusively on film music. Can anyone comment on what this content is like? Some of it (e.g. the Legrand in Rio disk) looks like it's been out previously in various forms. I only have the Cinema de Michel Legrand set and am keen to hear more of his work.

Chris.

It's all his Columbia albums from the 1950s, and unless they're from his personal tapes I really doubt they got the masters from Columbia/Sony - this stuff is, of course, public domain in France - so it's either from his tapes or from vinyl or maybe they did license from Sony - who knows?

Can anyone vouch for the best sources for sound quality of the Columbia/Sony stuff?
