So... Wanted to query the group on those unexpected tracks hidden on a disc well beyond the main title. Where the composer seems to have been guided by the musical gods into producing a single piece of music which rises from the depths of obscurity and challenges the main theme for dominance.
One that can initially be lost in the shuffle because of it's track order, but stands out upon repeat listening... to the point where you listen to that disc (or digital version) looking forward to it more than the rest.
Here are a few of mine to get things rolling (In no order):
MEDICINE MAN (Jerry Goldsmith) - 04 - The Trees (Gorgeous, if a bit dated, but something that has hung with me for years)
THE FACULTY (Marco Beltrami) - 03 - Extra Credit (Are you kidding me? SO much better than this film deserved. Wow. Listen loud and over and over. Incredible work!)
ROGUE (Francois Tetaz) - 04 - River Suite (Where the HELL did this come from? Hauntingly Beautiful and completely unexpected. The CD is worth tracking down for this alone.)
DRAGONHEART (Randy Edelman) - 02 - To the Stars (Yes, you've heard it somewhere... and somewhere else for a reason. A Trailer favorite.)
BATMAN RETURNS (Danny Elfman) - 06 - Selina Transforms II (At 1:22, the track turns into something incredible)
VANILLA SKY (Nancy Wilson) - 02 - Elevator Beat (Just cool - but could be considered a main theme)
28 DAYS LATER (John Murphy) - 18 - In the House / In a Heartbeat (A classic the first time you hear it)
I hope this is a cool way to catch a few we may have missed...
