A restaurant critic tries eating, for a week, on the $4.50/day that food stamps offers. http://www.sfweekly.com/2013-09-18/restaurants/austerity-measures-restaurant-critic-food-stamps-snap-san-francisco-food-bank/ One part that rankles me is where she whines about having to spend time cooking her food. Cheez, lady, that's life on a budget! I wonder what this says about America's eating habits generally. I don't think food prep is any much part of the average person's life here. Another part that burns my bacon is the free lunch she got. Cheez, look at that picture! There really isn't much solid nutrition there, just sugar to keep a person spinning until their next "fix." I do, like, though, that she had some real perspective on what the project means and her part in it.
