I only flew overseas in the 70's, to Italy a couple of times with my family.
I remember the long flights and the movies they showed for our entertainment.
1. SNOWBALL EXPRESS Just remember Dean Jones and a lot of snow and generic Disney background music. I remember enjoying my dinner that they served a lot more than the movie.
2. THE BLACK WINDMILL
I remember I think Michael Caine was in it and I thought it was boring. Don't remember the music.
3. YOUNG WINSTON
Loved it and it's music.
4. THE MIDNIGHT MAN
As I mentioned in the 1974 movie thread:
Don't remember much about the movie accept that there was an old skinny pervert in it that had a collection of porn magazines. It's true. I think Burt Lancaster was a security guard or something. Okay, I remember the music from the MIDNIGHT MAN was very "Midnight" Atmospheric. Before I knew who Dave Grusin was. But I can not remember a distinct theme.
Please share movies you saw on overseas flights and their music scores if you remember them.
"October Sky" on a flight to France ('99); original score by Mark Isham. I promptly got the soundtrack CD. In total coincidence, I had just finished reading the book it was based on ("Rocket Boys") on the way to the airport.
TO ZOOBA- My friend, they say humor helps you through the day. I couldn't resist.
I always wondered if they showed AIRPORT disaster films on flights? Probably not a common practice. A day without humor would be pretty depressing. Keep laughing my Man!
I don't think I'ver ever seen a memorable film on the in-flight entertainment, nor heard a score particularly well. There's simply too much noise from the surroundings. It's something to pass the time with, but it's not really a good venue for a film/score experience.
