100% there for this. Thief is one of my favorite films (and now coming soon on Blu Ray from Criterion!!), and this TD score is in my top 10 favorite scores. I've heard the Safan track but never been lucky enough to own so this is a must-buy for me.

Can't wait to get this, I was disappointed with TD's 'Near Dark' score, didn't do it for me (probably their only score I can't stand). But Thief I've always enjoyed from seeing the movie way back. I hope Firestarter will get a remastered treatment as well!

I could do without having both Beach Theme AND Beach Scene, one would have been fine, thank you. big grin - but I do understand it is the album presentation.

Although there isn't much in the way of unreleased music , it'd have been nice to have the other excerpt from Force Majeure used with Belushi at the car lot late in the film. Otherwise if I recall there was a lot of the usual Mann edit and pasting music again into different scenes.

I've got the original Elektra cassette, the first Virgin CD, the Virgin remaster, the Wounded Bird... do I dip again?

This is simply the best presentation of the recorded score you will find next to watching the upcoming Criterion release. The liner notes discusses in detail the film and music editing that Michael Mann did with Bob Badami and Craig Safan concerning all of the spotting on the film with TG's music.

I can listen to Tangerine Dream any day of the week.

From the Perseverance website:

December 12, 2013
Thief Delayed

As you may have realized, Thief is delayed and will now ship on January 14, 2014. For those of you, who were lucky to get an autographed copy, please be advised that your copy will ship even later, as we will still have to mail the coverts to Johnannes Schmoelling in Germany, and then to Chris Franke and Craig Safan here in L.A. I do apologize about that.

If you don't mind not having a signed booklet, Screen Archives have their copies in and are shipping now. A friend of mine ordered his copy and it arrived in a few days.

That's what I picked up on from another thread. I did order direct from Perseverance to get one of the signed copies. It should get here just after my birthday. smile

Just take the track "Thru Metamorphic Rocks" off the "Force Majeure" album, add it to the CD and you'll pretty much have the complete score.

I broke down and ordered this from Amazon so it'll be here Tuesday.

Yes I know , but it's always not complete ....sorry

I prefer the movie version of diamond diary and destruction ,and there are synth dark strings (moroder's style)
in the movie (never released)
the beach theme and confrontation by safan are the same than the movie but in the extended cd orange records...

Does anyone know if the cue heard at the end of the legendary diner monologue by James Caan is music from a previous TD album, or just unreleased?
