100% there for this. Thief is one of my favorite films (and now coming soon on Blu Ray from Criterion!!), and this TD score is in my top 10 favorite scores. I've heard the Safan track but never been lucky enough to own so this is a must-buy for me.
Can't wait to get this, I was disappointed with TD's 'Near Dark' score, didn't do it for me (probably their only score I can't stand). But Thief I've always enjoyed from seeing the movie way back. I hope Firestarter will get a remastered treatment as well!
I could do without having both Beach Theme AND Beach Scene, one would have been fine, thank you. - but I do understand it is the album presentation.
Although there isn't much in the way of unreleased music , it'd have been nice to have the other excerpt from Force Majeure used with Belushi at the car lot late in the film. Otherwise if I recall there was a lot of the usual Mann edit and pasting music again into different scenes.
I've got the original Elektra cassette, the first Virgin CD, the Virgin remaster, the Wounded Bird... do I dip again?
This is simply the best presentation of the recorded score you will find next to watching the upcoming Criterion release. The liner notes discusses in detail the film and music editing that Michael Mann did with Bob Badami and Craig Safan concerning all of the spotting on the film with TG's music.
I can listen to Tangerine Dream any day of the week.
