OUR TIME is a story of two high school girls coming of age in 1955 Boston. The 1974 film features future TV stars Pamela Sue Martin and Parker Stevenson, along with Betsy Slade. It was the second film directed by Peter Hyams, after his debut with 1974's BUSTING. OUR TIME has a gentle score by Michel Legrand, which has never had a release. Only the main theme was released, on a promotional 45 from Warner Bros. (WB 7799). Here is that theme:

Yeah, this film was a real sleeper, mistakenly promoted by Warner as a warm and fuzzy nostalgia romp. It was actually a tragic drama, wonderfully acted and written.

Betsy Slade was the first runner up for the title role of CARRIE. In fact, she was considered the leader before Sissy Spacek stole her thunder.

I did a play with Betsy at the Mark Taper Forum here in LA and then we recreated our roles for a PBS Theater in America taping - she was great and it's a shame her career basically went in the toilet - I know not why. Further trivia: Her understudy was Debra Lee Scott. My understudy was John Voldstadt (the Bob Newhart Show), and Betsy's sister is Mink Stole, who appeared in a few John Waters films.

Fascinating trivia. I recall seeing Betsy on a PBS broadcast way back when, which much later appeared on DVD. It was called FORGET-ME-NOT LANE, if memory serves. I guess I forgot-it-not.

Debralee Scott also appeared in OUR TIME, along with Betsy and Pamela Sue Martin.

Mink Stole was/is Betsy's sister? I had no idea!

That's the show we did - Forget-Me-Not Lane - in fact, I'm on the cover of the DVD.

Dang--I knew I should have kept that DVD! I had to move a number of years ago, and parted with a bunch of DVDs, including that one.
