Hi Gang,

I am downsizing my storage and have a great many VHS screener copies of the Warner Bros./M-G-M films for which we released the scores on CD. Basically, every time we did a CD, I'd acquire the movie, and if it wasn't commercially available (at the time), the studio would provide a screener.

I need to dispose of several boxes of movies which have subsequently come out on DVD, for which the VHS tapes aren't really useful to me anymore. Because these are screeners, I cannot sell them, but I can give them away, if anyone is interested. Let me know.

No, I will not be making a list...this is probably best suited to someone local who could pick up the boxes. If no takers, I'll recycle them through greendisk.com

Can these "screeners" be donated to a library?
Or do they only want DVDs these days?

Hi Mr. Lukas.....

I might be interested in adding your tapes to the Massive Manderley Archive. I probably already have many of the same tapes you have, but there are likely others that I don't have and could integrate them into my collection.

I'm often engaged in research and consultation on various projects relating to movie industry projects---currently one through the Hollywood Art Director's Guild on set design in the old Hollywood---so, at least some of these could be of value to me at any time in the future.

Basil Wrathbone's comment about donations to the local library is thoughtful, but I had a conversation with Bond65---who is a library supervisor---at Morricone's party the other evening and he said that, in general, libraries were abandoning the VHS formats in exchange for DVD formats which are easier to store and utilize.

So.....the age of VHS is mostly dead---except to researchers like me and a few others.

Lukas, if you wish, please eMail me and we can perhaps discuss an arrangement.
