SEBASTIAN. It is simply EXQUISITE!!!. From yesterday to today I will hear as about 4 times and I have wanted to listen yet again. My copy arrived yesterday, and Sebastian is one of the reason, why I don't follow my Halloween-list! [Another reasons are: Days Of Wine And Roses, The Carpetbaggers, The Miracle, The Detective/Von Ryan's Express] It's sounds so 60s, that I even can't describe it in words. The only one minus - I prefer "music only", so I removed all replicas before Tristram Cary's tracks, but this is very little minus.    Posted:   Dec 29, 2013 - 12:19 PM     By:   miguel   (Member) I can't stop playing this cd this Christmas holiday -especially when I'm pissed and life is beautiful. I've loved the original lp for decades, but pieces like "The Red Insect" and the Main and End Titles from the original soundtrack bring the whole score to life and round it up beautifully. I do love yer groovy 60's soundtrack. I hope to have Goldsmith's Flint albums before too long, & maybe Mandell's Harper & Lai's I'll Never Forget What's 'is Name. I owned the album many years ago and am now enjoying it again in crystal clear sound. Definitely one of my favourite Jerry Goldsmith scores. I never took to the vocal Come the Night by Jimmy Hassell, though. And then I find, on the score, the vocal is by an unnamed female vocalist which is far, far better. I've searched the booklet but cannot find her name listed (perhaps I'm going blind) and yet it is so obviously the lovely Anita Harris that I wonder why the credit is missing. I, too, have ignored the Tristam Cary material ... just not music for listening to, IMHO. You'd await every new effort, thinking you knew how he would approach it, and then he would totally surprise you with his creative take on a film. Now that we're getting the complete iterations-on-CD of his scores, I appreciate that he remained a composer of exquisite scores--we just never got to appreciate them in their entirety. And the same for "QB-VII," which should also be arriving today or tomorrow! ("QB-VII" arrived today.) And CinemaScope, re "You'll find yourself back in the sixties wearing a three button tie-dye & flares,", nope -- even in the 60s I never wore a three button tie dye or flares!!! Not my style.
