Really great show. Classy. Not insulting. Different take on the lore definitely and with some great music. LOVE the opening credits.
I think the main title with the little silhouette figures is a homage to the prologue of BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA (1992).

Definitely.
Other things that came straight out of the 1992 film: definitively stating that fictional Dracula is the historical figure Vlad the Impaler, and making Mina a lookalike for Vlad's long-dead wife. But the TV series then goes off in its own direction, making up a new (as far as I know) and very different mythos.

Yup, I've seen it and really enjoy it. While they have kept most if not all of the major characters, they are in NAME ONLY. This story of Dracula has been revamped in it's entirety...and for that I find it extremely refreshing and very entertaining to watch. But iff you are a purist, stay away. But for those who like a well written, acted and produced production this delivers the goods in my opinion.
The cinematography and set design are fantastic, almost hard to believe the quality they put into it for a weekly series, and one that airs on a Friday night no less. The casting of the characters and the updates and twists on each are spot on. Dracula is in England, but his disguise is as an American entrepreneur. Renfield is a hulking African American male who is as smart as he is loyal. Van Helsing...well I won't spoil the relationship here, just know that it's a cool take between these two adversaries. Dracula's real nemesis is the Order of the Dragon, a secret society that is bent not only on the destructions of vampires but domination in the real world as well, just behind the scenes.
I will admit that it took several episodes for the show to find its footing and to point itself a steady direction. I advise to give it a go for half of the episodes and it begins to really take it off.

I watched this. Was nicely shot and had a good look about it. Im afraid i felt like it promised a lot and meyers was a chilling count, but it felt like it meandered and ended a bit limp. Cant explain it but it was like a promising big wave that came to nothing.
I will watch a series two if there is one though. Quite happy to see more of lucy as a vampire!! Ha ha
