I found a cheap copy of "The Big Bands" by George T. Simon.

It reads pretty much like a reference book, with short to long entries about a whole host of big band leaders, with a short section about vocalists, arrangers and some history.
Does anyone know of any other reference books about big bands, where I could look up people like Anson Weeks, Alvino Rey or Buddy Rogers (yeah, he led a band).
