Thanks for posting, I just watched this. I'm always struck by the vitality and sharpness of this 82-year-old man. I hope I'm half as together if I reach that age.

So, I'm going to re-arrange the tracks on the CD into film order and see how they play against the 'out of film order' sequence Williams set.
I think I have it pretty close...

1, 2, 3, 4, 12, 6, 7, 9, 14, 5, 16, 19, 11, 17, 15, 10, 8, 18, 13, 20, 21, 22

Anyone care to confirm or amend the correct running order?

Saw the film last week and Williams' score fits it perfectly. While the film itself had some flaws, the score really helps to make it better than it actually is. The young actress in it was great as well as Geoffrey Rush. I liked the score quite a bit when it came out but now after seeing it, I have much more appreciation for it. Williams remains a master at his craft. The film is worth seeing at least once IMHO.

Thanks Jason, I forgot to check JWFan (doh!).
I'm gonna play around with the tracks this weekend, using your guide (although I will use my own artistic license to separate the Max theme from running together too much near the end).
I can't believe how much more I love this score AFTER seeing the film.

Yea, it really supports the film perfectly. And having context for the music always helps.

Indeed, context is important in fairness to the film composer.

An elderly gent 8 years older than maestro Williams told me he was taken in by the film and so I watched it yesterday. Definitely of the Striped Pajamas genre as others have noted, for better or worse. Someone has also mentioned it's really a story about reading and I must agree. Thoughts of Fahrenheit 451 came to my mind during the viewing. As for the score, I found it average, nothing more. And yet average Williams tends to rank higher for me than most others' average. Pretty sure I'm far from alone in that assessment.

As much as I loved War Horse and enjoyed Lincoln, this score suprisingly had longer legs for me. I'm still listening to it regularly even a year later. It's a quiet, beautiful little score.
