Then please, feel free to boycott Family Dollar and it's $3/$4 (gasp!) Varese CDs and continue to enjoy your $1 Varese CDs at the true "dollar" stores.

is the shipping also a $1 at the one, true dollar stores (whichever they may be)?

Sometimes you can score good stuff for cheap at Dollar Tree and 99 Cent Store...but more often than not, you really do get what you pay for. wink

So any store that has "dollar" in its name is required to be a "dollar" store?

Can't wait to apply that logic the next time I shop at BJ's...

Answer 1: Yes, or its not a dollar store.
Answer 2: Hmmm....

You mean Hummm . . .

Back in my vending days besides LP's I pick up thousand's and thousand's of DVD's and CD's at various one dollar stores in the big Apple.I remember there was a great store near City Hall in New York, that for a year had fantastic dvd's and cd's for one buck. It was wonderful.

Not kidding at all. Anybody from New York can tell you that. Nearly every neighborhood has a one dollar store. everything is just one dollar. On a strip where I used to live in the big apple I bought hundreds of video's and Dvd's for a dollar. FAMILY DOLLAR IS NO BARGAIN.

I am well aware of Dollar Tree and dollar stores, Dollar Tree has stores across the US and Canada. Also " 99 Cent" stores are still in business.

However, Family Dollar has never pretended to be a store with retail prices limited to one dollar. NEVER. We sell many of the same brand name products you will find at any major grocery or retail chain, but also like those stores we also have a lower price point store brand.

I have never seen a customer come into the store to shop and say " oh dear...these prices are all over 1 dollar...I am being cheated...how dare you!" . The issue is NOT with the store but more with ill informed preconceptions by the customer.

I am NOT dishonest in my daily customer interactions and do NOT "play games with words" as claimed in your previous ignorant and insulting post.

On the bright side, I'm glad others are seeing some restock in their local FD stores. big grin

I didn't say you were dishonest, where does the personal game begin here. I said there are common traits many people react to in life and that is a common trait many people have when seeing a store like FAMILY DOLLAR in there travels. Just one example. Say one is from QUEENS NEW YORK, and they have seen dozens upon dozens of one dollar store for decades in which they shopped often. They go on vacation and coming into a small town they see a store that says family Dollar. Need I say what might be there first reaction as they pull up into the parking lot and go in, Suddenly DAN THE MAN is ignorant and insulting? Now there are millions of people who live in the 5 boroughs of New York. So I am not coming from left field here. Of those millions very few would have not come in contact with some one dollar store scenario, even if they never went in them, They see it as part of their landscape. As for the dishonesty factor, right this second there are sadly but honestly a lot of business people trying to make a buck with words to entice people to buy there product and not with the greatest consideration, caring and honesty that some people I know including yours truly. I am glad that you feel you are one of the honest ones. let's not be so sensitive here.

That's like saying Burger King is dishonest for not having actual members of royalty in their restaurants.

On a brighter note, I picked up the McNeely recording of Sunset Boulevard yesterday for three bucks.

Anyone knows if one of the FD stores in Miami has the Varese offers in stock? I'm going there next week, so it might make a nice side trip.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I pop by Family Dollar near my mom's house once in a blue moon and still find a ton of Varese CDs there. That said, this minor mention might change that for future purchases.

Dollar Tree buys Family Dollar. So do they become Two Dollar Store? They sure make a lot of billions one dollar at a time!

Electronics aren't real big for us, outside of cell phone accessories. Our movies and CDs are supplied by outside vendors, and the music isn't refreshed often. My store hasn't had any new CD stock delivered in about 8 months, and we don't have any of the Varese discs. Some stores do sell more discs, and get more deliveries, though. So, the stores who move stock will get more and locations like mine will probably drop them, just a guess.

I've thought about doing a store transfer and getting some Varese discs into my store but I'd be the only one buying them, and already have cherry picked what was available anyway razz

Just to update from yesterday...If anyone in central New jersey is looking for cheap Varese CDs, the Family Dollar in Neptune City has them. They are $3 and $4.

Point Pleasant and the Belmar locations do not carry the Varese.
