I've listened a few more times and for me it's crap.
If it's funny then I don't get the humour.

Obviously they thought it is funny to make noises like a cat whose tail is stepped on.
If somebody gave the direction "affected diva" and "Mandy Patinkin", I don´t understand this either: I thought the idea was "to offer a first glance, sight-read rendition of sheet music" and not trying to be "funny" and sounding like Inspector Clouseau:

Well, Sheetmusicman, I'm enjoying these renditions, as they are now doing some of my favourites. What's wrong with people when they can't enjoy a bit of fun with this stuff? How seriously are we supposed to be taking them?

I also enjoy what the Doctor Who Fan Orchestra do with Murray Gold's music for that show. People are simply finding their own way of expressing their enthusiasm for this music and sharing it with the rest of us. Those of us with a sense of humour and a little generosity that is.

Just the sort of thing I'd do at my keyboard and banjolele, if I could play a flippin' note! Keep up the pleasant work, guys.

Forgot to mention I remember GWTSIHH on those shampoo adverts! And I'm the proud owner of Barry's vinyl single release of The Persuaders (bought in the day!) on which the instrumental is the b-side.

Well, in any case the singers certainly deserve to receive the Florence Foster Jenkins Memorial Award.

Going through each and every one of these I just wanted to add how fun of a crew this seems and how I wish to invite you all to my big cocktail parties at the highrise I may or may not own in Hollywood someday.

Seriously, though - you're a lovely group of people. Keep this up.

I think we need to remind ourselves of the concept here of taking unfamiliar songs from soundtrack melodies (that many of us have never heard) and to record them cold and without rehearsal. The disparagement is mostly unwarranted and even mean-spirited, and, yes, there are real people here who I'm sure would LOVE to have gone back for Takes 2 and 3.

So, WHY didn´t they go back for takes 2 and 3? The concept itself is flawed. I honestly don´t know if I have ever heard such awful singing in my life before. Why release such a thing to the public? Better to keep it restrained to a private party with lots of alcohol.

Horrible Sight-Reading male here, we were hired to sight-read some songs. We honestly just thought we were there to play around and have a fun afternoon with friends singing some rare songs. I agree that taking them seriously would have been helpful to the goal of posting them on this board, but if you know who hired us, you know he loves to live life with hilarity and vivacity. He would have grown bored if he couldn't throw random directions at us like, "Sing it like Sinatra," and "Try this one like Patinkin." Believe it or not, both she-singer and I have incredibly high musical standards, and would have LOVED to take 3 or 4 of each song. I honestly didn't know that first ridiculous takes would live forever on the internet. That wasn't what I thought the point of it was.

So kindly relax, have a bit of grace, and don't watch anymore of these. Some of them are less horrible than others. But don't watch them. Because they're all pretty terrible. Thank you very much indeed for your "kind" remarks.

It IS a fun group of people, and we'd love to attend your cocktail parties in Hollywood when you get your high-rise apartment! - Stephen
