Greetings, people.

I'm a member of a group of researchers dedicated to archiving all information related to Zabriskie Point (MGM 1970) film documenting all the musical contributions made by various artists to the film. This includes not only the music released on the official soundtrack album, but also music included in the film that never made the OST.

One piece of incidental music used in the film is a recording of the jazz standard Don't Blame Me (Jimmy Mc Hugh - Dorothy Fields).
17 seconds of it is used as lobby music in an office building (see the link below).
We have been searching for weeks trying to identify the specific version of this song used, but to no avail.

MGM used various versions of Don't Blame Me for their movies throughout the years and it's quite possibly the version we are looking for was used elsewhere as well.

We request the help of knowledgeable members of this forum in first identifying the specific version of the song, then, once identified, obtaining a decent quality copy of it.

I can't be of any assistance, I'm afraid, but I just wanted to say that I like your project (being a huge fan of both Antonioni and Pink Floyd, in particular). I've had the old Rykodisc set for years.

Hope someone else can.

Greetings, people.

I don't know how many of you have noticed, but in the last couple of years some unofficial albums have been appearing on the internet that are focused on Pink Floyd's contributions to the film Zabriskie Point (MGM 1970).

We are a group of researchers dedicated to archiving all information related to this film and who want to one day be considered responsible for the restoration of the unreleased material meant for the soundtrack of this film, a project that will eventually include a box set documenting all the musical contributions made by various artists to the film. This includes not only the music released on the official soundtrack album, but also music included in the film that never made the OST.

One piece of incidental music used in the film is a recording of the jazz standard Don't Blame Me (Jimmy Mc Hugh - Dorothy Fields).

It seems to me that if you are truly serious about putting this entire project together, the absolutely FIRST place you would go is to Warner Bros.

You would need to search out a key executive who has knowledge of the music holdings of their Turner Entertainment subsidiary as it pertains to the old pre-1986 MGM Music Department.

Once a contact has been established, the next thing to do is to work out a contract deal with them, probably for a considerable amount of money, regarding the licensing and usage of this material as it relates to ZABRISKIE POINT.

The MGM (Turner-WB) library likely holds all of the extant music elements for the film---used and unused material, together with the paper trails of all the music recorded for the film, music licensed from outside vendors for the film, or music picked up from the older scores for MGM films stored in the vaults. For the most part there will be a listing of cues used (and unused), timings and dates for the sessons, the publishers to which the original music was assigned, IF original to MGM, the clearances for outside-used music and the contracts for outside performers of music done directly for the film, either as for-hire works or as buyouts.

Depending on the price you are willing to pay for all this, and the deal you could make with WBros for the release of the material, and the negotiations with the final releasing music company, your project would likely be resolved.

That is, IF YOU WISHED TO DO THIS LEGITIMATELY!!! smile

Whatever...
The purpose of this thread is to find an unknown version of Don't Blame Me used in the Zabriskie Point movie.
That's all.
Edited the main post as well.
It's not my intention to involve Records Companies in that.
A fan request only.
May somebody give a help?
Seems there's not around anymore one of those old fan of the old soundtracks where that song was used many times.
