We've an unabashedly unapologetic preference for listing this first as it was our gobsmacking
brilliantly-belated introduction to both Bondage and John.

Nothing so typifies how 'Million-Dollar Mickey Mouse Music' can sound so thrillingly uplifting

and most memorably magnificent.

Neo, as much as I enjoy this choice, (the score to Thunderball ranks as my favourite JB007 score) I have to disagree: John Barry's opening titles to The Ipcress File are top of this particular list for me.

The 007 films are rich in brilliant openings, and I'm not just talking about the big Bond gun-barrel thing.

007 aside, The Lion In Winter has a fantastic opening. The meld of Barry's powerful opening title music against chiarascuro lit gargoyles is just fantastic.

I think the Raise The Titanic overture, set to lovely nostalgaic pictures, is another.

And, the cut of Meryl Streep's voice sliding away into the train scene as she remembers, "I had a farm in Africa ..." That's a pretty cool opening too.

Cheers

THE BLACK HOLE's main title sure made those wire-frame graphics a lot more impressive than they'd otherwise have been, didn't they?

The entire opening thirty minutes of that movie, and especially its Overture, may be in JB's top five creations.

Re: I am quite partial to this one:

Without Barry's music, I don't think the film would have done as well as it did, and I certainly never would have bought it on DVD and Blu-ray WITHOUT it.

The opening of THE GOLDEN CHILD is beautifully evocative the way it switches between the mystical monastery and the pounding, primal music for the villains.

So many to choose from, but I particularly love the music that follows the gunbarrel opening of LIVING DAYLIGHTS, setting up the Gibraltar exercise. Full of intrigue, perfect spy music!

Whether for the large or small screen, cool his cool sublime royal romanticism ne'er

Indeed, Honorable Meester Aitch and peerless In Deed.

Which also goes for John's GORgeous music herein. (No wonder
La Hepburn was another artistic advocate Da Guv'nor via the
previous roaring "Lion" and "Corn is Green" after this). smile
