After literally a year of deliberation, test drives, pouring over magazine articles and internet reviews and even more deliberation, I finally settled on my next car and today took possession of a gleaming silver Jaguar XKR.

And man alive what an awesome car!!! Gorgeous exterior, sumptuous interior loaded with goodies and phenomenal torque. I'm seriously impressed.

So is anyone else here a Jaguar driver or fan?

Reminds me of The New Avengers.

Beautiful car, Mike. I could be quite envious, only I doubt I'd actually fit in it.

(Although I tried an E-Type for size 30 years ago and it fit like a glove.)

I actually had a shit job working in a garage that specialized in UK cars - TR3s, MG-Bs, Minis, an occasional Sunbeam Tiger - and we had a client with two Jags. Nice cars, though I only ever took apart gear boxes and transmissions. Never got to drive it, was never good with stick shift.

I know the new ones are much better.

Although I know when they break or regular maintenance like a tune-up, you better have load of
cash, or be mechanical yourself. Them are some pricey machines.

I am a Volvo guy all the way, even when they finally break, the still keep going, or you can tape it back together.

Nice car Mike! When driving it around London, please don't park it near the "Walkie-Talkie" building. I would hate to see a grown man cry.

That's a sleek car, Mike.

I'm not a car person (in fact, I've never owned a car) and I think there is too much car-dependency in the US, but that doesn't mean I don't recognize a great-looking car when I see one.

Congrats!

Very nice indeed...

But that's you all over, Mike - all torque!

btw, I just realized you live in the UK, Mike, so my small 'slight' against American car culture wasn't that relevant in this case. smile

I wouldn't be surprised if the UK had a greater density of vehicles than even the US.

Mike - next time we meet for a drink, you can pick me up from Fenchurch Street in that wink

Never been much of a "car guy," but I always thought the Jaguar XJ220 was a pretty slick-looking ride.

It usually never is.

Oh, I have some very strong opinions on American car culture and global environmental issues, but I'll try not to divulge in that here, since this really about Mike's celebration of his brand new vehicle. smile

I looked at a few Mercs, like the SLK but something about the Jag just sung to me. Also, you don't see a lot of XKRs on the road.
