Guess the driver by below description.

He finished his cigarette, still listening to the radio, wound down the window, and threw the stub away.
At a touch of the button the 3. 8-liter engine beneath the long sloping bonnet of the Jaguar XK 150 S thundered once and settled down to its habitual and comforting rumble, like an angry animal trying to get out of a cage. ???? flicked on the two headlights, checked behind, and swung out into the growing traffic stream along Osdorf Way.

Peter Miller from The Odessa File.

Mea culpa, I cheated and looked it up (although I did read the book years ago I have no real recollection of it). But what a great description of starting the car and driving away. Great words and actually very applicable to my Jag. It starts with a button (the key stays in my pocket) with a thundering ROAR as the 5.0 comes to life and then simmers down to a throaty growl. It's the best soundtrack ever!

The music in that commercial is by Alexandre Desplat.

And I got my F-Type today (there was a four month waiting list) and it is beautiful.

When I was a kid I knew every car on the road and every one long gone from the road. I lived for cars, a real car expert. However now I don't have too much interest in cars, My personal favorite was a 65-chevy-soft top convertible. The one Gary Lewis and the playboys were in on one of their LP covers.

Storyteller, that's one of your most astute posts.

Went for a nice long drive earlier in the glorious sunshine, with the roof down despite Arctic temperatures (couldn't resist - and anyway, that's what heated seats are for, surely - at least, that's what I told my wife). Someone took a picture as I was driving through Bridgnorth, which is not something I've experienced in previous cars.

Here's one of it in the late-afternoon sun when I got it home for the first time yesterday:

And here's one of me looking rather pleased with myself next to it:

(It looks its best with the roof down of course but I don't have any pics of that, unlike the gentleman in Bridgnorth!)

Edit: hope those images are viewable to other people, I'm useless at this sort of thing

Stunning car mate, just stunning. How does it handle? My XKR under steers quite a bit because of the power but it doesn't take long to get used to it and adapt driving style accordingly. but the performance is awesome. I stuck it in Sport and Dynamic mode last night coming down the A12 and seriously it just blew me away.

There's a bit of under-steer but I'm chuffed at how well it handles. Haven't gone for Dynamic mode yet - thought I should run it in for a couple of days first! The growl it makes when I put my foot down is something else.

On my drive way.....

It just hit me that I posted the joke, but didn't post what I thought of the car.

It's beautiful. Would love to have a car like that someday, but alas, I suspect I will never be in that tax bracket.

Hope you have a blast with it Mike.

In answer to the original question, no. But one of my goals in life is someday to own a Jaguar hearse like the one Bud Cort drives in Harold and Maude,
