If the Japanese text says the following they don't undersell it: "See if you are able to like this film with two very unsympathetic actors in the leads".

I like this film out of all proportion to its quality. There's just something about it that really appeals - I put it down to the chemistry between Caan and Arkin (two favourite actors) and the bouncy Frontiere score. It would be grand to get it on CD one day.

Peaches and cream, salt and pepper, vanilla and chocolate, vodka and tonic, meat and potatoes, corned beef and cabbage, day and night, man and woman, young and old, black and white, Bonnie and Clyde, Cleopatra and Antony, Hannah and her Sisters, and the list GOES ON INTO INFINITY!

Anyone remember the (short-lived) TV series with Hector Elizondo? smile

I remember something with Hector in like that, Mark. Kinda misses the point in that on the back of all the x-rated cop films of that era, a large part of Freebie and Bean charm was the quirky but foul dialogue with them quibbling and swearing at each other, which couldnt be repeated on TV anyway!!

Birds of a feather, you and me...

Yes - I recall there being a disappointing TV version. The less said about it, the better.

Some great lines in the film: "How can you be a mouthpiece and an asshole at the same time?"
