Rory, these were compilation LPs from early 70s where, mostly, they chose more well known themes so that they sold. So no othr theme of Elmers waz ever goin to make the lineup before mag seven. quite how geoff sneaked in Man horse gun we dont know! ha ha.
Just listened to Big Western Movie Themes for the first time in 25+ years ... and for the first time in glorious sound.
Marvellous!
I even enjoyed the two tracks I was never keen on as a kid ... The Call of the Faraway Hills and Stagecoach to Cheyenne*. And, of course, the final track Stelvio Cipriani's A Man, a Horse and a Gun was as good as - no: much better than! - I remembered.
* I'd always thought that theme was from the John Wayne original ... but, of course, it's the pop melody added to Jerry Goldsmith's score for the remake. So obvious ... now!
