Kritzerland has announced a new CD featuring two scores by three-time Oscar winner Maurice Jarre -- the military caded drama TAPS, starring Timothy Hutton, Sean Penn and Tom Cruise, which had been previously as an out-of-print CD from the Varese Club; and the first-ever release of the surviving score tracks for Oscar-winner George Stevens' final feature, THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN, a romance set in Las Vegas (but filmed in France -- such are the whims of '60s movie stars) pairing Elizabeth Taylor and Warren Beatty.

Quartet has announced three new score CDs -- Lalo Schfrin's music for the thriller sequel F/X 2, reteaming Bryan Brown and Brian Dennehy (Bill Conti scored the original); Ron Goodwin's music for the 1976 Disney adventure film ESCAPE FROM THE DARK (released in the U.S. as The Littlest Horse Thieves), including the score tracks released on the British soundtrack LP as well as previously unreleased cues; and the first release of Mario Nascimbene's complete score for the 1961 Italian comedy drama LA RAGAZZA CON LA VALIGIA (Girl with a Suitcase), starring Clauda Cardinale.

DID THEY MENTION THE MUSIC?

ABOUT TIME - Nick Laird-Clowes

"If two appealing stars and a nice, warm cup of philosophical cocoa are enough for you -- plus a yearn-rock soundtrack by Nick Laird-Clowes, of the 1980s band The Dream Academy -- then 'About Time' is your movie. You don't even have to put it on repeat."

Rafer Guzman, Newsday

"A hugely successful one-man brand whose credits as screenwriter and director have raked in well over a billion dollars to date, Richard Curtis set the gold standard for transatlantic rom-coms over much of the last 20 years. The 56-year-old comedy veteran describes his third writer-director project as his most personal to date, but it still ticks plenty of familiar boxes. Emotionally repressed upper-class Brits? Check. Well-heeled West London milieu? Check? Anglo-American boy-girl romance? Gently whimsical tone? Syrupy musical score? Wedding? Funeral? Check, check, check."

Stephen Dalton, Hollywood Reporter
