On August 26, MovieScore Media plans to release the soundtrack for the 1998 TV remake of Hitchcock's classic REAR WINDOW, starring Christopher Reeve and Daryl Hannah. The Emmy-nominated score was composed by Oscar winner David Shire. They have also announced plans to finally release the long-delayed  CD soundtrack to one of the year's most music-dominated films, the stylish thriller GRAND PIANO, scored by Victor Reyes.

Monstrous Movie Music has announced four upcoming CDs of vintage film music -- Paul Sawtell and Bert Shefter's score for the 1971 Western THE GATLING GUN, starring Guy Stockwell and Robert Fuller; Nicholas Carras' score for the female-centric action film THE DOLL SQUAD; WESTERN MEDLEY, a two-disc set featuring music from The Great Jesse James Raid (Bert Shefter), The Baron of Arizona (Paul Dunlap), and MST3K fave The Last of the Wild Horses (Albert Glasser); and another two-disc set, JUVENILE JIVE, featuring Date Bait (Nicholas Carras), High School Big Shot (another MST3K fave, scored by the great Gerald Fried) and High School Caesar (Nicholas Carras).

Kronos is releasing two limited edition CDs of scores for contemporary films - the drama STILL LIFE, directed by Oscar nominated producer Uberto Pasolini (The Full Monty) and scored by his wife, Oscar winner Rachel Portman; and the just-released psychological thriller THE MAID'S ROOM, scored by Arturo Rodriguez

DID THEY MENTION THE MUSIC?

INTO THE STORM - Brian Tyler

"Set up as a compendium of first-person videos (but with a brow-knitting score by Brian Taylor), 'Into the Storm' is set in Silverton, a geographically vague town full of cardboard people."

Rafer Guzman, Newsday

"The movie races along; it’s swift and unpretentious, clocking in at just under 90 minutes. There’s genuine suspense in the sequence when Donnie and his new girlfriend (Alycia Debnam-Carey) are trapped underground in a mill that begins flooding. Production designer David Sandefur deserves praise for the landscapes of destruction that he’s engineered. The score by Brian Tyler helps to keep the tension building."

Stephen Farber, Hollywood Reporter

WHAT IF - A.C. Newman

"The score, by A.C. Newman (of The New Pornographers, and a solo artist in his own right) is also perfectly crafted, neither obtrusive nor forgettable."

James Rocchi, The Wrap

"'The F Word' [retitled 'What If'] is the rare rom-com that’s both funny and romantic, and it does nothing whatsoever to buck the conventions of the countless dozens of movies like it. A low-concept premise helps: Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan hit it off at a party, but she’s committed to a long-term relationship and they agree to be friends. That’s it. The rest rides on the quality of the banter (by Elan Mastai, based on Michael Rinaldi’s play), which is adorably caffeinated and witty; the chemistry between Radcliffe and Kazan, which is strong; and Dowse’s smart direction, which sustains a bright tone (a score by the great A.C. Newman helps) and gives the city of Toronto a life that it’s almost never granted, outside of the odd 'Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.'"

Scott Tobias, The Dissolve

In the "In theaters today" section it says Expendables 2 but it should say Expendables 3. So now you know.

In the "In theaters today" section it says Expendables 2 but it should say Expendables 3. So now you know.

Good catch, will fix.

I enjoyed Expendables 3 much more than I expected to (I originally typed that as "Enjoyables 3), though having Jet Li appear for only a few minutes with no martial arts to perform was a bit frustrating.

Watching him, Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Banderas, Snipes, Gibson and Robert Davi, I kept feeling like someone held the Joel Silver Reunion and forgot to invite Joel (and Joel even had unmade projects that were meant to star Harrison Ford and Dolph Lundgren -- though not together).
