Canto Morricone:
The Lost Liner Notes
Canto Morricone is a new 4CD collection from the German Bear Family spotlighting the songs of the legendary Ennio Morricone. For the liner notes, FSM columnist and reviewer extraordinaire John Bender teamed with the project's Stefan Rambow and Italian film music producer/expert Claudio Fuiano.
Alas, the label decided not to use these exhaustive notes, and the authors have instead offered them to the FSM web site for the consultation of Morricone buffs everywhere. John Bender had some comments on the experience of writing and rewriting these, but they are sadly unfit for a web site intended for the whole family.
Canto Morricone should be on sale now, but as it is a German release it may be hard to come by in the States. See Bear Family's web site at www.bear-family.de, and Cinesoundz's site at www.cinesoundz.de. The discs should be available directly from Cinesoundz (as of July 1998, the covers to the first two discs can be seen there).
