So, I've noticed a little pattern.
I buy Ghost and the Darkness, and a month later, Intrada puts out the complete film score.
I buy Rambo, and then of course, Intrada gave us the goods today.
I happily bought both Intrada CD's, of course.
But another Goldsmith score I've wanted to own is Rudy, and I'm paranoid of it happening again. xS
Is there anything of significance missing on the CD we have? Any problems in sound quality? Should I wait for an ultimate expanded edition?

But is the missing stuff anything crucial, or just the themes repeated?

Yeah, there's a cue or two with more unique material, but largely it's just variations on the same thematic material. But all lovely. I made myself an expanded score rip from my complete DVD isolated score and I enjoy it quite a bit; it doesn't wear out its welcome at all. Just a warning though: the Blu-ray version of the film does not carry over that bonus feature.
Since DVD audio is of course compressed, I'm really hoping that Varese gets around to a Deluxe Edition of this soon so that we can have all the lovely extra music in lossless audio. I'm sure they'd sell them like crazy since it is one of Jerry's most popular 90s scores.

The thing that makes Rudy different from the other titles you bought with bad timing is this: it's one of those that is controlled by Varese Sarabande in perpetuity. This means that only they can do it, and though they've been stepping up their output this past year or two, Varese titles are still less likely to get expanded soon than titles they don't control (virtually all of the 90s Goldsmith has been expanded at this point besides the many titles they have). So you might be safe buying the short album (or DVD for the isolated track) for now, because in the immediate future I imagine they'll continue to prioritize his action scores (they've recently done Chain Reaction and Executive Decision, with U.S. Marshalls and Air Force One still to go) which have a lot more material missing than Rudy.

I might have agreed more strongly with this a year or two ago, but 1) Varese has been going to the Goldsmith well with its deluxe editions, 2) RUDY is still in print and still very popular (and I would guess probably one of their strongest sellers over its life), and 3) Varese is just about the release a vinyl edition of the soundtrack with all that obnoxious green Notre Dame bullshit on it.
I guess what I'm saying is clearly RUDY has not fallen under their radar, and if form holds with these Goldsmith deluxe releases, I imagine we'll see this one too in relatively short order. It's one of those that might catch on in social media and draw orders from the mainstream like LLL's upcoming FERRIS BUELLER.
ETA: That said, to the OP's original question, despite a few missing cues Goldsmith's original album presentation is glorious and basically flawless IMHO. Go forth and purchase, young man.

Believe me, I've loved the score for a long time but have hesitated due to my superstition. But the urge to hear "The Final Game" in the car returns here and there, so I caved in.
If this results in a reissue next month, I'll go ahead and buy U.S Marshalls, The Haunting or Small Soldiers to make my wishes come true later!

I could be wrong, but I think there may be like 20 minutes or so left off the Varese album. One of my favorite scores ever, should be in every collectors home along with THE HEARSE ...
