Bakula. He was a think back in the 1980's. I've been a fan of the show since I first saw it. I enjoyed the scoring as well. This isn't something I'll necessarily do every day, but I wanted to go through some episodes. Now, you can watch some of the episodes (I don't know how many) at nbc.com (Hulu has them blocked for Hulu+ users), but I can't get any of them to play. Maybe you can. EDIT: August 4, 2022: All NBC.com links removed; NBC no longer has episodes on it's website and uses Peacock, which you have to register with to watch videos (and this show requires you to pay for Peacock premium). And Peacock only lets you know your browser won't work until AFTER you have registered. Attention readers: I have been implementing a system that is nothing more than a note to myself; for cues that I want to include in a suite one day, for now on I will denote them with ^ symbol. It has no special meaning to anyone else but myself. No, the lack of an up arrow symbol doesn't mean the cue is bad (it just may have too much SFX or FX for suite use or just isn't worth my time to edit and include). Hence forth this system will be in all future threads and pre-exiting threads that I go back to for missed episodes. Anything in ( ) are just notes to the arrow and you need not bother with that. The system does not mean that I will make a suite or that one has been made, it's simply for my own reference if and when I do decide to. SEASON 1:
This is all of season one. "Genesis" (Part 1 and Part 2 as one load; old time stamps for separate episodes, preserved below) By: Mike Post https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S01+br/Quantum.Leap.S01E01-E02.Genesis.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 2:27 in.^ 16:10 in.^ 19:59 in.^ 45:04 in. 47:28 in.^ 52:14 in.^ 53:57 in. About 8:10 in. 8:29 in: Ron Jones did additional uncredited work for Post on various series and I think this short cue is by him, based on his ST: TNG work. 12:10 in. 13:40 in. 17:07 in. Some action material with a little sax' thrown in. 20:53 in. About 26:30 in. 43:28 in. "Star-Crossed" By: Mike Post https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S01+br/Quantum.Leap.S01E03.Star-Crossed.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 3:50 in.^ 23:47 in. Short upbeat rendition of the series' main theme.^ 27:21 in. A pleasant cue playing the secondary series' theme with an alto flute and a comfy '80's sound backing it.^ 42:18 in.^(parts) "The Right Hand of God" By: Mike Post https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S01+br/Quantum.Leap.S01E04.The.Right.Hand.Of.God.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 12:06 in. 20:26 in. 21:14: a softer take on the "Rocky" training montage music. Little to no FX. More at about 28:53 in, though more brassy and with some electric guitar.^ 42:22 in. 46:02 in. Sam: "What unknown variables?" And the cue after the commercial break.^(open of second) 13:28 in.^(14:27) 17:04 in.^ 18:05 in. It's short, but nice.^ 31:57 in. A soft woodwind piece, followed by some '80's material.^(32:??) 34:54 in. Horse riding music with the series' theme. 38:20 in. Softer material. There's a brief lull.^ This episode score brings in some light western sounds and stylings. Nothing great, mind you. That's the second of third hand-held device design Al has carried. A number of little things changed during the first season. Obviously it wasn't all thought out too well. "Double Identity" By: Mike Post https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S01+br/Quantum.Leap.S01E06.Double.Identity.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 37:38 in. 45:31 in.^ There's very little scoring in the episode. SEASON 2:
Time stamps line up with Blu-ray releases and I typically try to give times two or three seconds before the cue starts, so you don't suddenly jump into it. "Honeymoon Express" By: Mike Post https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E01.Honeymoon.Express.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 7:46 in.^ 15:46 in. It continues after the commercial.^(both) 24:54 in.^ 27:13 in. 32:06 in.^ 36:44 in: a long action/chase cue. About three minutes.^ 41:18 in.^ 47:05: NOTE: This cue was a replacement cue for old DVD's where they didn't license the song; the Blu-ray licensed the song, so the load linked to above does NOT have this cue. I am leaving it here anyway. Short funky disco music. The only actual case I know of from Post.^ None of that wimp-out pussy crap about guns Richard Dean Anderson brought to two TV series. Sam may not care for guns, but when he needed one, he went for one. Twice. The way the episode was handled, I'm wondering if this was shot as the season one finale and that it was acting like maybe the series might not be picked back up, and shuffled to the season two premiere. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever that history can be changed and yet Congressmen expect to know that when they read history books, and Al can know. Al: "While I got back to put research online, you're going to have to face a beautiful woman who wants to spend the entire night making mad passionate love to you. It's a dirty job ... but somebody's got to do it." "Disco Inferno" (2.2) By: Mike Post https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E02.Disco.Inferno.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 0:00 in. Followed by laid back disco music. NOTE: Again, the Blu-ray licensed the song, so the instrumental disco cue I noted here, is not heard. 15:36 in.^ 25:06 in. 34:31 in.^ 46:25 in.^ Quite frankly I'd like all the instrumental disco music. Sam: "Oh my God -- I'm Popeye." "The Americanization of Machiko" By: Mike Post https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E03.The.Americanization.Of.Machiko.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 0:33 in.^ 7:53 in: some nice Americana-ish tender string work, although short. 18:05 in.^ 20:07 in. With a little bit of playful material on strings and woodwinds.^ 23:36 in. 27:08 in. 35:46 in.^(37:02) 41:44 in. 44:38 in.^ "Some people can never forgive; not even themselves." "What Price Gloria?" (2.4) By: Mike Post "Contributing Musical Composers": Velton Ray Bunch and Jerry Grant. https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E04.What.Price.Gloria.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 0:00 in. 7:10 in.^ 10:52 in.^ 13:06 in.^(open) 21:27 in.^(21:44) 26:12 in. 31:50 in. 42:22 in. Some light suspense music, more like other episodes. 46:33 in. That's the majority of the episode score. Another nice change of pace score, with kind of a call back to light fluffy films of yesteryear and some playful stuff. It's a fun episode, too. Sam: "What ever I did, I'm sorry." "Blind Faith" (2.5) By: Mike Post "Contributing Musical Composers": Velton Ray Bunch and Jerry Grant. https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E05.Blind.Faith.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 0:00 in. 9:59 in.^ 25:11 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^(both) 28:39 in. It's short, but I like it.^ 38:09/39:32/39:59 in. I think those were tin kitchen food bowls I heard there (first cue).^ 41:41 in. 44:22 in.^ "Good Morning, Peoria" (2.6) By: Mike Post "Contributing Musical Composers": Velton Ray Bunch and Jerry Grant. No link provided since I didn't cite anything. Highlights: Nothing. There's also little scoring since the episode takes place mostly in a radio station and existing songs are used. "Thou Shalt Not" (2.7) By: Mike Post "Contributing Musical Composers": Velton Ray Bunch and Jerry Grant. https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E07.Thou.Shalt.Not.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 19:36 in. Sorrowful strings and woodwinds piece.^ 34:42 in. More of the above. And the cue after the commercial break.^(both) 39:04 in.^ 41:43 in. 43:35 in.^(parts) "Jimmy" (2.8) By: Mike Post "Contributing Musical Composers": Velton Ray Bunch and Jerry Grant. https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E08.Jimmy.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 0:00 in. The somber string piece.^ 17:07 in.^(part) 22:43 in. 25:59 in. 31:46 in.^ 35:01 in. There's a brief lull.^(36:10) 40:04 in.^(parts) 43:12 in. 46:36 in. A good episode. Al: "Ah, we've been having some difficulty with Ziggy; he's ah, going through mood swings. I think we need to get a girl computer -- put it right next to him. You know, one with a set of nice hard disks..." Sam: "You would."

Finishing SEASON 2:
"Good Night, Dear Heart" (2.17) By: Mike Post "Contributing Musical Composers": Velton Ray Bunch and Jerry Grant. https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E17.Good.Night.Dear.Heart.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 7:32 in. 13:44 in. Post does a Mark Snow impression for the first half minute.^ 28:50 in. Some nice piano, strings and woodwinds.^ 39:05 in.^ 43:35 in.^(44:55) "Pool Hall Blues" (2.18) By: Mike Post "Contributing Musical Composers": Velton Ray Bunch and Jerry Grant. https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E18.Pool.Hall.Blues.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 42:57 in.^ "Leaping in Without a Net" (2.19) By: Mike Post "Contributing Musical Composers": Velton Ray Bunch and Jerry Grant. https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E19.Leaping.In.Without.A.Net.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv This is the final effort for the show by Post. Assuming he doesn't do any episodes of the new continuation series. I'll go back and edit this if he does. Highlights: 19:25 in. 25:44 in. 42:18 in. Circus music. 44:24 in.^(open) 46:44 in.^(parts) Is that an existing instrumental piece at 42:35 in (old time; not fixed)? This must be from DVD, where the song "Tequila" is replaced. "Maybe Baby" (2.20) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E20.Maybe.Baby.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Velton takes over as series composer. Highlights: 1:06 in. Also featuring some fun bluegrass-ish music. Most of the cues are fun stuff like that or with that flavor. 20:17 in. 24:18/26:10 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 34:39 in. Music to strip by. 38:42 in. Including a brief waterphone use. 41:42 in. 46:44 in. The special end credits music.^ A fun score. I wouldn't be opposed to the whole thing being released. Bunch also scored a good short-lived series called "Broken Badges", which was blue's influenced. Overall the scoring wasn't as fun as this, but there were a couple of cues to take away from it including a montage scene. "Sea Bride" (2.21) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E21.Sea.Bride.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 34:50 in. Sounds like they used a mono recording -- it's very noticeable compared to the stereo audio otherwise. NOTE: Sounds like they tried to fix this for the Blu-ray; sounds more stereo now.^ "M.I.A." (2.22) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S02+br/Quantum.Leap.S02E22.M.I.A.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 26:30 in. A kind of laid back lounge-y piece with a harmonica taking the lead. NOTE: The Blu-ray cue doesn't have harmonica, so apparently that cue was replaced. But the new one is good, too.^ 55:58 in. The end credits music, assuming it's not tracked. NOTE: The song is put back in for the Blu-ray, so this cue is not heard. I'll have to go find a good-quality load of the old version for suite purposes.^ This is obviously the DVD version that replaced songs, including the fan favorite with the iconic series scene playing "Georgia on my mind". If these aren't original pieces, I think I only found one score cue in the whole episode. Sam: "You know the rules Al: We can't change our own lives."

Continuing SEASON 4:
"The Wrong Stuff" (4.7) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S04+web/Quantum+Leap+S04E07+WEBRip.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 2:42 in. 12:11 in. And the cue after the commercial break (snare drum and brass work).^(second) 23:47 in. More snare drum and brass work. 31:17 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 45:45 in.^ 39:14 in.^ 42:02 in. "Dreams" (4.8) By: Velton Ray Bunch No link provided since I didn't cite anything. Highlights: Nothing. An unremarkable moody synth score. Another episode score to be skipped for any potential set release one day. "A Single Drop of Rain" (4.9) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S04+web/Quantum+Leap+S04E09+WEBRip.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 6:49 in. A delightful honky tonk/blues/king of jazzy piece with guiro, piano, a drum kit, and various percussion. 18:06 in. 23:06 in. And right after the commercial, with more material like the first cue I cited (only now with some violins).^(23:49) 29:23 in.^ 36:39 in.^(38:18) 41:52 in. 46:04 in. The special end credits piece, which is like the first cue mentioned (though the credits are short). That's damn near the whole score. I only skipped over four cues; one of those for after he leaped. I wonder if that's Velton playing piano at about 29:50. I checked IMDb and nobody is credited as a pianist. I guess I'll have to e-mail him and ask. Al: "What are you doing to me? I haven't seen a meal like this since they passed the Cholesterol Control Act." "Unchained" (4.10) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S04+web/Quantum+Leap+S04E10+WEBRip.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 5:06 in. 10:27 in.^ 12:41 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^(first) 21:39 in.^(part) 29:27 in.^ 31:28 in. 39:08 in. Down-south grungy guitar and drum kit with a beat. 31:41 in. Al: "Yeah, and if I had blonde hair and I could sing, I would be Madonna." "Out here, nobody knows what's going on … and nooobody cares..." "The Play's the Thing" (4.11) By: Velton Ray Bunch No link provided since I didn't cite anything. Highlights: Nothing. Another episode score that should be skipped over it some label is working on a set. "Running for Honor" (4.12) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S04+web/Quantum+Leap+S04E12+WEBRip.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 20:11 in. The first two or so minutes are almost complete snare drum and timpani work. And right after the commercial break. 32:53 in. There's not much scoring in the episode.

SEASON 5:
Season five features a new butchered arrangement of the main theme. "Lee Harvey Oswald (Part 1)" (1) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E01.Lee.Harvey.Oswald.Part1.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 2:10 in. Montage opening cue with only a little FX at the end.^ 6:42 in.^ 9:31 in. 11:31 in. 18:39 in. 20:50 in. 40:26 in. 45:19 in. Immediately followed by the special end credits music.^ The score for the first part was nominated for an Emmy, but did not win. The other competition that year: "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" Composer: Joel McNeely Episode: "Young Indiana Jones and the Scandal of 1920" (WINNER) "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" Composer: Laurence Rosenthal Episode: "Vienna, 1908" "Murder, She Wrote" Composer: Bruce Babcock Episode: "Wind Around the Tower" "The Simpsons" Composer: Alf Clausen Episode: "Treehouse of Horror III" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primetime_Emmy_Award_for_Outstanding_Music_Composition_for_a_Series) "Lee Harvey Oswald (Part 2)" (2) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E02.Lee.Harvey.Oswald.Part2.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 3:19 in. 18:21 in.^ 21:31 in. 25:33 in.^ 31:20 in.^ 35:35 in. 38:39 in. 44:19 in. piece. Immediately followed by the special end credits^ If not one of the best, perhaps the best scores to the series, this two-parter. Powerful emotional stuff with memorable hooks and a theme. And it works gangbusters in the two-parter, especially the moving build and unfolding the events in the closing. I've not heard the Emmy winning score that year, so I can't say if this should have won, but it was surely strong competition. "Leaping of the Shrew" (3) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E03.Leaping.of.the.Shrew.1080p.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 2:36 in. 11:33 in. And the soft pleasant short cue after the commercial break.^(second) 14:41 in.^ 17:25 in. 19:14 in.^ 22:26 in.^ 24:17 in. 27:06 in. 32:10 in.^ 34:03 in. 42:01 in. 46:08 in. The special end credits piece.^ "Nowhere To Run" (4) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E04.Nowhere.to.Run.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 27:50 in.^ 44:03 in. If I were compiling a set of season five scoring, I probably wouldn't include any score from this episode. A great scene for Al's character is found in this episode, though probably just a minute long. Jennifer Aniston guest stars. "Killin' Time" (5) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E05.Killin.Time.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 0:50 in. 16:05 in. 22:26 in. 24:19 in.^ 28:15 in.^ 42:06 in.^ The Project Quantum Leap center has armed Marine's patrolling inside. And it's multiple stories as it has an elevator. And the elevator sounds like the bridge of the "Star Trek" TOS series. Gushie takes on Al's role for most of the episode. He was in six episodes of the series, including the pilot. I just want to edit that end put in the "The Greatest American Hero" ship. Al: "Gushie, I could kiss you if you didn't have bad breath." "Star Light Star Bright" (6) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E06.Star.Light.Star.Bright.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 6:15 in.^ 10:16 in. 25:29 in. Continuing SEASON 5:
"Deliver Us from Evil" (7) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E07.Evil.Leaper.I.Deliver.Us.From.Evil.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 20:46 in. 23:02 in. 26:46 in. Some flute and light string work. 29:47 in. The first episode with an evil leaper. "Trilogy Part I" (8) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E08.Trilogy.Part.1.One.Little.Heart.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 1:05 in.^ 5:28 in.^ 8:49 in. 13:26 in.^ 17:40 in.^ 24:59 in.^ 27:30 in. Joining a cue already in progress for an usually bit of scoring (for this show) with wordless female vocals. 28:12 in. 33:31 in. 36:12 in. 39:51 in.^ 44:46 in. The special end credits music.^ Velton beautifully weaves the old song known as Hugh, Little Baby (A.K.A.: Mama's Gonna Buy You a Mockingbird) into parts of the score for emotional effect. Looking up the song, who don't know who wrote it, where it originated, or what it's really called; thought to be written in the southern United States long ago. "Trilogy Part II" (9) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E09.Trilogy.Part.2.For.Your.Love.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 3:34 in. 14:55 in. 26:20 in. 32:48 in.^ 41:45 in. "Trilogy Part III" (10) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E10.Trilogy.Part.3.The.Last.Door.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 10:07 in. Like some kind off Mark Snow X-Files and southern flavored combo. And after the commercial break.^(first) 19:19 in. Another cue that sounds like Mark Snow's work on "The X-Files". 23:45 in. 28:07 in. 30:45 in. 44:08 in. Featuring some evil male and female chanting.^ 47:16 in. The special end credits music.^ I wouldn't necessarily be apposed to the whole score being released. Introducing Sammy Jo -- Sam's daughter. (NtM: 47:10) "Promised Land" (11) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E11.Promised.Land.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 5:50 in. A nice short acoustic guitar piece, that first opens with synth strings that sounds like it was done by Mark Snow. 13:58 in. A short woodwinds piece.^ 18:17 in. A pleasant piece with woodwinds and acoustic guitar. 25:05 in.^(open) 30:00 in. A playful piece with woodwinds and strings.^ 32:05 in.^ 39:23 in. 43:47 in. Some mournful cello bass work opens the cue. (NtM: 13:51) "A Tale of Two Sweeties" (12) By: Velton Ray Bunch https://archive.org/details/quantum-leap-series/Quantum+Leap+S05+br/Quantum.Leap.S05E12.A.Tale.of.Two.Sweeties.BluRay.10Bit.1080p.AC3.H265-d3g.mkv Highlights: 5:29 in.^ 10:06 in. 22:27 in. 25:27 in. 30:39 in. 33:22 in. It's a short bit, but it's like other cues above, so it could probably be seamlessly edited onto/into one of them. 39:20 in. A nice tender flute and strings piece. Not too long though. 44:48 in.^ 46:11 in. And the short end credits piece in the same style, though lighter.^ For lack of a better way to describe the score, most of the cues have old-fashioned pop feel to them. I also wouldn't be apposed to the whole score being released, though to a slightly lesser degree than "The Last Door". Partially guest starring that guy who played Rick on "Magnum, pi". Sam: "What's wrong? Al -- I'm a bigamist," walks a little, "Can you believe this? He's got a wife in Brooklyn and a wife in Pompano Beach Al: "Yeah, seems like a great set up."
