Is it too much to hope for?
I loved the first two films. Proper goofball entertainment.
I always preferred Bill & Ted to Wayne & Garth, who were far more successful, box office wise.
I would NEVER have bothered with the likes of W&G at my school, but would have enjoyed goofing around with B&T smile
It's got a director who has used David Newman before (Dean Parisot/Galaxy Quest).
I also really liked Galaxy Quest, so hopefully, he should be a good fit for B&T3.
Have the makers left things too long and should they have left well alone?
Can lightning strike thrice?
PARTY ON DUDES!!!

Given the unfortunate inability of Gorge Carlin to participate...

I consider his scores for the first two to be amongst his best work, so I would be really bummed if he didn't return/wasn't asked, for this third film.

Totally agree Justin.
I remember, back in the day, a fellow film music mate who HATED David Newman's music. Just couldn't get into it. But upon hearing the B&T University fanfare/theme at the beginning of B&T2 was moved to say 'Now THAT IS brilliant'.
It was weird that he (Newman, not me mate) kept no thematic unity between the two films.
1 was lighter and poppier, funkier even, but with the requisite dark and dramatic stuff DN does so well.
2 was bigger, bolder, better(?) More spacious and grand.

If Lorne Balfe gets the gig, I'm sending Liam Neeson 'round.

Many Wyld Stallyns vets are returning for this, so Newman has to be a lock. Almost is certainly a lock. Somewhat a lock? Remotely a lock? How 'bout a twistie tie, is he one of those?

This is the first film in a long time for which I'm wondering what the song list will be like. Not many rock songtracks making the rounds these days. Hopefully it'll be chock full of new wares from legends like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, and the like.

PS: The title makes it sound like the whole movie will be a "Behind the Music" mockup.

I really like his scores, although on-album they feel a little incomplete without the accompanying rock songs. I hope he gets the third.

I was personally content not having any of the songs, though I would have not been opposed to having the one that opens the first film.

Bah! Your 20th century colloquials mean nothing to the legacy of Wyld Stallyns!

    PS: Hollywood, y u no Bill & Ted's Non-Non-Non-Non-Non Triumphant Escapade?

If David Newman is not asked to return for this third film, I will indeed also be pissed.

Why don't we just go wake up Newman's agent?

    Has he got one?
    I'd sack him.
    He's doing fuck all.

Oh, he's scoring all right. Just stuff that should be swept into the dust bin of history:

    Night School"
    "Naked"
    "Girls Trip"

Night School Naked Girls Trip sounds like it would make ONE GOOD FILM.

I'd rather he do these movies than nothing at all, and being attached to a hit like "Girls Trip" might do something for his career.

Also, I thought his score for "Naked" was quite lively.

I'm really hoping Newman does get hired for this movie. It just wouldn't be the same without his music.

The film wrapped shooting a few days ago and has a release date, but still no word on composer. Looking over the Music Department credits on IMDb, I'm getting the worrying feeling it's not Newman who's scoring this.

    The release date is: 8/21/2020.

As somebody at another board put it:

    "8 + 21 + 20 + 20 = 69 dude[s!]"

    Haha, that's brilliant smile

I guess I'd better get ready to add BALFE to the thread title!!!! (cue Psycho strings).

If I even see the names Balfe/Bates/Tyler/Zimmer/Junkie, I'm not even going to see the film for free if a local library gets it. I wash my hands of it.
