Gorgeous score, and I really liked the film. It didn't end as well as it began but it's got some pretty great scenes and acting.

Very impressive....just when I was beginning to fear that BMcC was getting a little stuck (expressively) in a comfortable soundworld of action/horror scores..here we get this gorgeous waltz.
Alas, after some years it's safe to say the anything with Mel Gibson will be forever toxic, so the movie is never going to be a wide success, but the score is a surefire purchase for me.
If only he would find a way to release physically (thourogh Sparks&Shadows, if not LLL) Welcome Home.
I saw the movie and it's pretty good , a nice throwback to the 70's sexy psychological thrillers, but the score is just top notch, and that one was surprising too (viola da gamba as the leading instrument in a thriller? wow, that's a Morricone-class trick)

Not sure why you say that. Mel Gibson has never directed a bad movie, and his latest, HACKSAW RIDGE, was both a commercial and critical success. To be fair, he hasn't acted very much in recent years, but I don't necessarily see how that would be 'toxic' either. I think most people are able to separate between his private shenanigans and the quality he brings to a film, whether as director or actor.

In any case, looking forward to hearing this.

Really great score.... McCreary is becoming one of my "must buy" composers (save for his horror scores which aren't always my cup of tea) and this was definitely worth it. The last three tracks in particular are absolutely gorgeous and worth the price of the album alone pretty much. Can't wait for Godzilla... not sure you could get a much more different prospect than that!

I would hardly call being a homophobic, anti-semtic woman abuser "shenanigans."

Fuck Gibson. I won't waste my money on any film he is in or directs.

That's your choice. The point is that his films are still well-received, despite of the controversial personal issues.

What about Roman Polanski? Or the movies produced by Harvey Weinstein? Or the movies directed by James Gunn? Or Woody Allen? And the list can go on forever...

I find Mel Gibson a compelling actor. One of the few who can carry a movie. He was excellent in Edge of Darkness and I enjoyed Blood Father. Robert Downey Jr. Says Gibson hired him when no one would. I am really looking forward to this score

Tweeting stupid jokes (like Gunn did) and actually doing the thing he joked about are completely different things.

Not bad as far as sawing strings go. Pleasant enough and tightly orchestrated but largely forgettable.

Got it.
Now the wait begins...I'm having it posted to my American address, since it's neither quick nor cheap to have it delivered here in Europe (custom fees are unfortunately back in fashion nowadays, plus VAT which is a "nice" 22% here).
Truth be told, I had gotten a newsletter from Music Box saying that they have the autographed edition too (wow Bear, just how many did you sign? your hand must hurt..smile ), but the price was basically double, 27 Euros+shipping, so.... I'd rather wait until my summer vacation to put my hands on it.

I have to admit, I've never been a fan of McCreary (which kinda sucks since he does so many scores). Not saying he's a bad composer, his stuff just didn't do anything for me. I'm glad to say this score actually "clicked" for me...which is always a bit of a thrill...although, as the reviewer above mentioned, it's a bit of a departure from his usual sound. I do find myself wanting to go back through his past works to give them another shot...funny how that happens sometimes.
