I can't comment on the music other than what I heard during the screening that I saw. It was very reminiscent of Hereditary, meaning some long, weird, dissonant sound moments were heard, along with the "Swedish" sounding folk songs as heard in the film and some nice, melodic passages too. But nothing that makes me want to own any of it. As far as the movie, if you are a fan of the filmmakers previous film Hereditary, you know what you are in for: a long, slow burn of a film, with more static shots that most people these days are accustomed to and some in your face moments of violence and gore. In addition, whereas I had no clue where Hereditary was heading, if you are any sort of moviegoer you know exactly what is in store for these college students, meaning no surprise here. It's the journey of getting there that is unnerving and disturbing. But again, if you've seen "The Wicker Man" (the original) you know what's in store. Hereditary unnerved and disturbed the hell out of me longer after it was over. Midsommar, a decent and somewhat unnerving film but one where you knew exactly where it was heading thus the trip itself gets tiresome.

Walked out after 45 minutes. Complete failure. Rod Serling would have told it better in 26 minutes on "The Twilight Zone."

Any comments on the music to this film? I hated this almost as much as the original "Wicker Man".
