I would absolutely kill for getting this score. Unfortunately there's not that much Kamen released lately.

Other complete scores I badly want:

Jerry Goldsmith - The 13th Warrior
Brad Fiedel - True Lies
Peter Best - Crocodile Dundee I and II

Wondering why they never got properly released in expanded or complete form.

Still my favorite version of The Three Musketeers! By a long shot. Such a fun movie. I would purchase the complete version. I remember thinking that some of the Cardinal Richelieu music is missing from the current release. Like the stuff that played during the pigeons scene or something like that.

I didn't like this movie at all. Seemed daft and pointless. The 1973 film was much better in my opinion. I'm not familiar with the score, though I do remember that hideous song which was a big hit at the time.

Yeah, great movie, great score. I hope Intrada will release this some day.

Don't recall the score. Isn't this the film with the "Brat Pack"? I really didn't find the casting convincing. The 73 film is a classic- so is the score.

Not as memorable to me as Robin Hood...except for that it's a lengthy score and the best stuff (like in Robin Hood) was left off the album. Hopefully another 2CD job for Intrada!

In my opinion, a mostly pointless film. Not completely, however. To me, highlights include:

1) Tim Curry's Cardinal. C'mon, it's Tim Curry, fer cryin' out loud! smile
2) Fight choreography was from the brilliant Bob Anderson.
3) Cinematography was by Dean Semler.
4) Paul McGann hamming it up in TWO roles!
5) And Michael Kamen's frankly amazing score. Amazing? Well, when was the last time you heard a score, written in a faux-historical style, that was also, at the same time, completely effective as a modern action/adventure score?

Kamen's score gets a lot of play with me. smile

I loved this movie as a kid. It was action packed, funny, and (for a seven-year-old whose eyes were shielded from nudity of any kind) sexy as hell. Between the princess getting out of the bath and the cleavage shots of Rebecca De Mornay when her character first meets D'Artagnan, I had never been so distracted from a movie's plot as I was that afternoon.

I can't remember a thing about the score, but I remember the tape having an ad for some tie-in song by Sting ("All for one and all for love" or some garbage like that.) I watched the movie a lot in my late single digits, so that's burned into my brain.

Ooh thanks. Didn't know about that one!
But there's no release existing for Dundee II, is there?

Unfortunately not.

I vaguely recall reading here (or somewhere) that Crocodile Dundee II score/soundtrack was not released because the composer himself deemed it redundant, as the score to the first film was already released and sounded very similar.
Or I'm thinking of something completely different.

Count me in for a vote for an expanded release of Kamen's The Three Musketeers.

This is currently my most wanted Kamen expansion. For example all the action music at the end of the film is missing from the cd!!

So, who owns the music score license?
Are they the same as the already released song/score album?
Is there ANY possibility of there being an expanded CD release containing most of the missing music, just like ROBIN HOOD - PRINCE OF THIEVES?
I imagine the song and it's many performers are some sort of stumbling block.

OST was released by AM records (Universal) and Disney owns the film. Intrada is the only label who might have a chance releasing this one.

In America the album was on Hollywood Records (owned by Disney) so presumably Intrada would only have to speak with Disney in terms of licensing an expanded edition:

I guess Intrada don't think Kamen sells. But they will shit out another Richard Band title I'm sure.

Was that necessary?
